Went out fri night for a hunt at a place that hasnt been hunted that I know of.  My buddie John hooked me up and we set up in a big open bottom, the field was an L shape and he set up on one side and i set up on the other, we started calling and i could barely hear john on his howler, we called for prob 5 minutes and John comes running on my side and motions me to come to his side, I go over n set behind him n let out an assembly howl and the dogs fire up around the holler in front of us towards a old house just raisen cain, this went on for 15 minutes and we cant figure why they r not comming, so we make a move closer to the house, in the mean time the one dog is barking n raising cain, we got to the house and there was a creek 30 feet wide and pretty deep, so now we now why she would not come.  We decided to pack our stuff and get out of there and head back to get decoy and foxpro and as i was walking I shined my light towards my call I see eyes about 150 yrds away from me and about 50 yrds away from foxpro, I raised my gun she moves and stopes and I try to find her again and she moves and I never got to shoot but still I got excited. Went around where we come into the field and let out a couple of howls and another pack lets out way on top of another hill across another creek that was to deep to cross so we head to truck.  Drove on out the road prob 2 miles and set up in a old grown up field with mutifloral roses and pines so thick u could only see 50 yrds at most,  called for prob 20 minutes and nothing, finaly they lite up 50 yrds down over the hill just cussing us out we could here them down in the brush every once in a while, this went on for prob 15 minutes and finaly they was going away from us, so after 10 or 15 minutes John gets up n walkes towards the truck and walks out the road howling and stps and walks and howls and im giving howls back, then all of a sudden a yote starts barking and it is very close to where John was and he barked at me for 10 minutes back and forth and I knew John was very close to him, well finaly we heard the dogs go over the hill and John came back n said that dog was 20 yrds from him in the thick brush and scared the crap out of him when he lit up.  We made 4 stands that night and had 4 different groups of dogs very close but no fur down.  OH WHAT A NIGHT.    sorry so long

the first dogs just barked at us and raised cain but the wind was blowing in our favor and i don't think they did. We use coyote scent before we go out. The other dogs in the brush on the other set they came very close and John was using his coyote scent with a misting bottle so i really don't know on that set, the dogs sounded like they were going away from us but when John moved to the road he said the one dog was 20 yrds from him but could not see it from all the brush and i could tell they they were close to each other. We didn't get out of the woods until 5;30 in the morning but it was still a good night.

Al and Dave,

Sorry I missed you guys.  wv_yoter and I  went to Hughes WMA and hunted Saturday 3/29/08 morning.  No response.  Then we met up with his friend Pat and went to Creston and hunted all afternoon.  We saw lots of tracks but heard no dogs.  Bummer.  we still had a good time.  I think I lost something out there.  Those young guys walked my ass off!   :roflmao: :roflmao:  Sounds like you guys had an exciting evening.
