Need some help from you computer savvy people.
We got our daughter a new  laptop for her graduation.
I'm having problems getting on the internet with it.
When I check the wireless network connection it says,
Status:  Limited or no connectivity
Network:     (looks like its on our network)
Duration:    11:33:42   (and counting, since I first started messin with it)
Speed:    54.0 Mbps
Signal strength:   (all 4 bars, so it looks like it's picking up signal good)

Not sure what other info ya need, it's a Dell with internal wireless card.
It has Windows XP Pro on it.
I know about enough on these stupid things to get in and change somethin,
and then can't remember how to get back in there to fix it.   :eyebrownod:
Thanks for any help in advance, I doubt it'll be my last question.

Network connections, right click on yours, then click "View Available Wireless Networks" from the drop down menu.

If yours in the new list, click on it to highlight it, and then click "connect" which is near the bottom.

After I click on "view available wireless networks"
Then it says "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection"
"If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection use that software"

No the red X's are by the" Local Area Connection", and the "Bluetooth Network Connection",
By the Wireless one it says "Limited or no connectivity, Firewalled"

Check your firewall scott, I know by default it will prevent it from connecting.

It looks like it's picking up signal, but not really connected.
I'm wondering,,, how do I find out my network key on My computer,
to be able to put it on the new computer
Scott

Hell, you got me
Must be a Dell thing.

Take a look around here http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board?board.id=si_newusers and see if you can find it in a search.

Thanks for the help so far, I'm bout ready to give up for tonight.
I think it's my wireless that's locked/ password protected, (if that makes sense)
That's not letting me connect to it with the new computer.
Scott

Could be but when you click said connection and then click connect it should ask for a password if there is one.

I'll check on ya tomorrow. I have to hit it myself. Rick223 thinks were going fishing at 5:00am  :doh2:
