My 7 yr old got drafted up from coach pitch to the real Little League yesterday.  I was a nervous wreck until after the first at bat.  He seemed so small compared to the older kids, but still went 1 for 1 at the plate and drove in 1 rbi.
He played left field and got 1 ball hit to him but held it to a double by gettin the ball in to the cutt off man fast.

I'm very proud of him, and he surprised me by paying very close attention to the game.  My camera battery died when warm up started   :rolleye:

I guess I have to let him grow up but he's still my little pork chop  :congrats:

Lol, I remember those memories with my father, and looking forward to sharing the same ones with my young boy.  Thanks for sharing Silencer.

I hope he is allowed to play and have fun with it.  Around here it is like the World Series with fans yelling at umpires, coaches, kids, etc.   :madd:    I quit going to Little League games because of it.  I still like the girls softball and T-ball since it is both fun and a learning experience for the kids.

Jerry, its usually pretty good around here.  Only 1 time I've seen a game stop a couple years back and one parent was escorted out of the park, and it wasnt my kids game thank goodness.
From what I understand, the umpire has the right to have the person ejected from the premises and arrested if they dont leave.

The boy was so pumped he slept with his jersey on last night  :laf:

I used to umpire coach pitch (7&8 year olds) and little leaguers (9&10's) in the little town I grew up in.  It was a blast watching the kids learn the sport.  I taught tee ball as well a few years before that, so I got to see my students actually playing the game.  What a blast!!  I miss those days :highclap:

I can remember the parents yelling from the stands.  Most of them don't even have a clue what the rules are.  And the problem is that the kids listen more to the folks in the stands than they do the coaches. :rolleye:  Luckily, I only had one parent really get bad.  A little guy hit the ball about 5 feet down the third base line.  The ball ended up right smack dab in the middle of the white chalk line.  I called fair ball.  A guy in the bleachers stands up and YELLS "Foul Ball."  All of the kids on the whole field freeze.  I holler fair ball again, but nobody moves.  So I point the batter in the direction of first base, give him a small push and tell him to run to first as fast as he can.  The whole time he's running, the parent is hollering, FOUL BALL, FOUL BALL.  I turned around and told the parent to be quiet.  He told me I didn't know what I was doing.  Then there were about 5 other parents in the stands that told the guy to shut up.  They finally convinced him he didn't know what he was talking about.  The foul ball guy finally figured out he made an ars out of himself, and appologized to me after the game.  What a jerk.  The parents are the worst part of the game.  The kids at that age don't really care about winning or losing.  They just worry about who brought what treats for after the game!
