My buddy Shane called me up and asked me if I wanted to do a little night hunting tonight, So I threw the rig in the back of the truck and headed on out. It was a dark night until the Moon popped out about 10 minutes before we got to start hunting.  :x   But we figured that we would try our luck anyways.  This place that we were on has held plenty of hogs in the past so I figured that I would try a few hog squealls.  I didn't know if a hog or a coyote would show up , but it really didn't matter to me so I gave it a shot.  After the 3rd series of calling what I believe sounded like a hurt pig,  I sat back and waited..  Trying to decide if i should just go ahead and call with my usual rabbit distress.  I looked one more time over the HUGE field, (which I don't like calling on) and I saw two sets of eyes WAY across the field, about 400 yds away. I lip squeaked and about 3 seconds later they came running.  I figured that it was coyotes but wasn't sure until they got closer to me.  I followed the closest set of eyes until they stopped.  Remember the moon is super bright, I was parked in the shadows against some trees trying to help conceal myself,  but I guess one coyote got a good look at me or smelled me one.  And took off.  I barked at him. he stopped at 250 yds and took a hit from my .223  pretty much dead center of his body.  The second one was history after that shot.  Couldn't call him back in.  I stepped it off and it was approximatley 250 yds.  That was by far the longest night shot that I had taken, I don't think that I would have been able to see the body except for the moon being so bright actually helped me out. Here is the pics of me and Shane, And one more with me holding it by myself, This was a pretty dang big male too. Aaron.

Nice coyote!  I'm sitting at 10 myself... but I love calling those big fields at night, you can get away with so much more in the dark!!!!

I just wish we could hunt at night here in Bama. I think I would be out at least 4 nights a week. Kinda grew up hunting at night. Back then no one really cared and the Wardens never bothered you. Not anymore!!!
