ME IS DUMB!

i have been really wanting to get out and impatiently waiting for the fall season...so today I was out camera hunting...really hot and humid today with some vicious mosquitoes thrown in...so spur of the moment I pull into a big corn field....go down the edge of the field and set under a tree with my .17HMR...blast 3 good shrieks on my Johnny Stewart mouth call....wait about 10 minutes....sweat rolling off me....hot sun....skeeters attacking...nothing happening....im like screw this im done...so I get up and go back to the car...sitting there coolin off...my buddy calls and im sitting there bullsheetn with him...I am facing down the edge of the field where I was just sitting...a big buff/yellow coyote hops out on the edge of the field about 20 yards in fron of where I was sitting..he stops and looks out over the field...standing there broad side

....then looks right straight at my car and me...then trots off into the corn....

...if I would have waited 5 more minutes he would have come out 20 yards in front of me broadside...sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...PRETTY EXCITING THOUGH.

That extreme heat will make you get dumber the longer you stay out in it. I can't stand that heat.

Now THAT sounds more like my luck. This spring I went to pull up on a coyote at about 10 yards and my sling caught on a branch. I tugged on it just a bit to make it come loose. NOTHING. Tugged a little harder, it abruptly let go and BANG!!! Yep, I missed.

BTW, I take the slings off now when I sit down.

I've rolled them only not to find them. Shot limbs. Knocked their teeth out. Found prints where they had stirred the mud on my walk back out. Countless views of their rear ends as they were leaving. Walked out and be setting there chatting with my partner only to hear them start singing exactly where we had just been. Had one right behind me in a pine thicket raising immortal cain right after I howled. He was po'd.

I guess most of us have had very similar experiences, but isn't that what keeps drawing us back?

If it was easy who would want to do it?

Your absolutely right Bopeye, just getting that one in was exciting as hell...Im strating to fall back in love with mouth calls again after getting over the love affair with my Foxpro........BUT I AINT GIVING EITHER UP

Thats way better than sitting there for an hour letting the bugs bite the hell out of ya without moving and nothing happens...
I know.....I have done both...many times.....

Sounds like fun!

I think the coyote was male too or he wouldnt have been dumb enough to come out in that heat haha...

We need to get out hunting to get AWAY from the female.........Maybe that yote wanted some alone time....
