I just found out today that a friend of mine's son was among the dead.     Staff Sergeant Justin DeCrow, 32, was killed at Ft Hood.  I did not know him personally but I know his dad well.   He is a good man and my heart goes out to him and his family.

Staff Sgt. Justin M. DeCrow

DeCrow, 32, was helping train soldiers on how to help new veterans with paperwork and had felt safe on the Army post.

"He was on a base," his wife, Marikay DeCrow, said in a telephone interview from the couple's home at Fort Gordon, Ga., where she hoped to be reunited with her husband once he finished his work at Fort Hood. "They should be safe there. They should be safe."

His wife said she wanted everyone to know what a loving man he was. The couple have a 13-year-old daughter, Kylah.

"He was well loved by everyone," she said through sobs. "He was a loving father and husband and he will be missed by all."

DeCrow's father, Daniel DeCrow, of Fulton, Ind., said his son graduated high school in Plymouth, Ind., and married his high school sweetheart that summer before joining the Army. The couple moved near Fort Gordon about five years ago, he said.

About a year ago, his son was stationed in Korea for a year. When he returned to the U.S., the Army moved him to Fort Hood while he waited for a position to open up in Fort Gordon so he could move back with his wife and daughter, Daniel DeCrow said.

DeCrow said he talked to his son last week to ask him how things were going at Fort Hood.

"As usual, the last words out of my mouth to him were that I was proud of him," he said. "That's what I said to him every time â€" that I loved him and I was proud of what he was doing. I can carry that around in my heart."

Semp - Sorry to hear about your friends son.  Words are hard to come by in times like this, best I can do is say I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart.  When we put on a uniform and raise our right hand we all realize what may lie ahead, we just never think it will happen to us.  Your friend has a son that will live forever in the hearts of those of us who wear and have worn the uniform of this country and also in the hearts of every American who appreciate what he has done.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

I'd really like to know the official story behind this shooter.

Thoughts and prayers going out to the DeCrow family.

I hope this isnt another joke

The "joke" is this thing called political correctness.  It has infiltrated every part of our society and ham strings right decisions because they might offend someone, somewhere, somehow.   :argh:

I too am saddened by all of this. My heart goes out to all the Families & their Friends!!

And I agree way more than is probably humanly possible with Semp's last post!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

We have to be "politically correct" the whole time the "politicians" are doing stupid shiite to increase our taxes & take away our Freedoms. Something certainly seems amiss.

I try explaining this to my kids once in a while when something comes up making it appear that those to be, have turned their heads on our country in attempt to save face.

Explaining what they've just done is the easy part, explaining why is the tough part, especially when I dont even know the answer.

Semp - Found this while browsing AP releases:

In Plymouth, Ind., small American flags were to be distributed downtown to honor DeCrow. His body was to be escorted from a funeral home to a church by military members, police officers and Indiana Patriot Guard motorcyclists.

"It tears at your heart that it was someone from our community," Mayor Mark Senter said. "People will be out to support him and all that he did for our country."

There was also an article in our local paper about him.  Seems that he may have been assigned to a signal unit out here for a while or that he came out here for some commo training.

I drove a round trip 12 hours yesterday to be at his visitation in Plymouth, IN and to talk with his Dad.  There were at least 200 people there at the church.  I returned home last night.  The funeral is today and will be heavily attended.
