Bills Custom Calls

In Progress
This stuff is a pain in the backside to work with. This is where I stopped turning and started sanding

Not much color to it other then where I fixed a couple spots by glueing some sawdust in
I will post finished pics when I get it done

If it wasn't dead it sure is now  :laf:  I don't have a moisture meter, but the way it drilled and the dust that come off it while sanding it sure seems dry.

It acts more like a spalted wood  chunks breaking off  I had some spots to fill with saw dust and super glue

That's cool Bill. I look forward to the end result.

I didn't know you could do anything with grapevine except almost kill yourself as a kid by swinging on them. :innocentwhistle:

I have a poison ivy vine you can try if that one turns out. :eyebrow:

Saw a spoon made from poision ivy once, really nice look to it.

I'd be interested in a complete set of those for my ex-wife. :eyebrow:

When Bill thinks of his MIL, he chews on that rest rather than doing what he would like.   :innocentwhistle:

That turned out pretty good Bill. Its funny that you made that out wild grapevine. I was just sitting in some over the weekend while I was deer hunting and I couldn't help but wonder how it would turn. I have to ask though - did that brown up naturally or is that from some kind of stain / finish?

Bills Custom Calls

I finished it with a friction polish and that is the way it ended up
The warmer I got the polish the darker it got,I just stopped there
