Yeah but the gray color indicates that your not being protected Scott. It's turned off. You can still scan or do what ever you want, but again the protection is switched off.

Antivirus recommendation?
Mine would be Shield Deluxe. I've been running it on four machines here at the house for several years.
It's 40 bucks a year, and if you use this link you can buy it for $20.00

But it's complete and useless garbage if you dont keep it updated.

Here's another classic for you. People go to Best Buy or Walmart and buy an antivirus program for their computer, go home and install it, and call it good.
What they dont realize is that package has been setting on the shelf since last Easter and there has been an average of 47 updates sent out for it since then. The whole time it's setting on the shelf it's not getting any newer or any updates, ya know :doh2:

Same with any downloaded antivirus, you HAVE to update it when you get it, to bring it up to date and then you have to keep it updated.
Some of them you can set up to download and install updates for you whenever they become available, others just let you know there's an update available.
The "UPDATE" buttons are usually in plain view and some are even pretty colored. Clicking on them is as easy as placing your cursor over top of the button on your screen and depressing the left mouse button..... :eyebrownod:

Jim,

How would you rate Norton 360 with live update?

I think it'll do what it's suppose to. But it was created as a corporate antivirus software if I remember right, which means it'll suck the life out of your PC (personal computer) while trying to protect it.
And actually all Norton AV's do that to PC's.

I posted a link somewhere to a comparison site I found....cant recall where i put that up.
