My laptop did the same thing. It won't start at all, even in safe mode. Any ideas boss?
sometimes I wonder....is that getting closer..... then it hits me

I had a personal conflict the other day, now I'm not speaking to myself.... I'm getting lonesome

I met the girl of my dreams, I was the man of her dreams too.....she used the term "nightmares" though.

Must be an epidemic... I loaded some pics onto photobucket and had all kinds of pop up warnings from Trend Micro anti virus something invaded from there... I think it's all settled out but has me worried.

Baxter had the same thing a night or two ago. I cant recall how he said he fixed it.
I do know that Microsoft just released a half a dozen security updates for XP Professional and sometimes those cause havoc with certain systems.

There might be something going around too, that those with vulnerabilities are becoming succumb too.

Antivirus software is nothing but fancy words if it's not kept running and up to date.

I use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and it will fix that Antivirus 2010 crap that is going around.  I got hit with the 2009 version last year while on Photobucket.

I also run McAfee but it did not stop the Antivirus 2009 malware.

If you find out post post it. I will let the laptop be for now. (hate to have to "format c").
Thanks Boss!

Oh boy I'll jump right on that! :pout:  After the computer advise you gave Pitw. :noway:
Mr. Jimbo will have to give the okay before I download that. :finger:

I run it on my computer.  But you have to have it installed BEFORE you get the virus.  The virus will not let you install it, or go to McAfee, or Norton or anyother program it thinks will destroy it.  Pretty clever virus.

Semp is right. It won't let you get anything after it has installed itself and calls itself a windows update to boot. The dang thing is a pain in the kiester to deal with. Your better off wiping it and starting over. From what I can gather it is also changing from time ot time to eal with whatever it may come across. So get in the habit of running backup as well. Jimmie

FinsnFur

If it's disguising itself as a Windows® update, then right there it's a dead give away to avoid it or refuse it.

Plus Windows® updates are fed right from Microsoft. Your computer talks to Microsoft without you knowing it basically. And when Microsoft notices you running a system or a program that they support and an update has been released, a little yellow shield shows up in your system tray,  (lower right hand corner)  letting you know updates are available.

I have never in my entire life seen this system infiltrated by any virus or malware. These come directly from Microsoft with no outside intervention.

So if theres a virus acting like a windows update, it's showing up as a pop up. And that right there should tell you...no no :nono:

Malwarebytes is a good program and just like anything else you get what you pay for. Meaning they do have a paid version and the free version is not bullet proof because of that.
With that said...my own personal opinion is that malwarebytes isnt an antivirus program.
It does not run live in the background and protect you like anti virus software should and does. It helps to remove things once your infected.
Personally I'd rather keep the bugs out at the door rather then pray like hell I can clean it up after they are in.

I didn't download any updates from any pop ups I had the yellow triangle and when I put the cursor on it,it said downloading updates, and that went on for 2 days then when I shut the computer off yesterday morning it said installing Microsoft updates 1 of 10 don't shut your computer off When the updates are finished your computer will shut off automaticly

I am running test on that computer right now when it is done I will try and post what comes up on the screen

That is exactly what mine did Bill. And when I restarted the pop ups were there in force and couldn't do squat for the crap. Jimmie

I run McAfee anti virus and internet security.  The Malwarebytes program comes in handy on malware like Anitivirus 2009 that get past the McAfee or Norton programs.

You are right, Jim.  Malwarebytes is used mainly to destroy the malware after it infects your computer.  I run the free version.  I think the paid version might be more pro-active on the front side to keep them out to begin with.

I am not happy that McAfee doesn't stop this crap up front.   :argh:

weedwalker

I'm running the same thing you are Semp. McAfee and Malwarebytes. So far, no problems.................................

Can anyone make heads or tails out of this
