Okay guys I need some help here[Jim wasn't much good :laf:].  My daughter[Amanda] decided my laptop looked dry last night so she gave it a shot of coke :doh2:[just as well of had rye too].  Needless to say it ain't what you'd call running now[faster than Semps Format C  :wo:] so I'm wondering what you think of the Toshiba Satellite L450-02T as a computer        .  I'm positive that any notebook will have more [stuff comes out of the little hole towards the rear and on the bottom of a fish] than I'll ever require but thought I'd ask what you thought.  I'll need something to talk with you fella's on cause if the cops ever find Mandy's body they'll probably think to talk to me about it sooner or later. :rolleye:

Forget the above I just bought the Toshiba Satellite L550-00J  :readthis:.  Great part is my hard drive survived the coke attack and my info can be retrieved.  Which anti virus should I put on this machine

I am now running Avast anti virus.  It was free and seems to be doing fine.  Previously I ran McAfee but decided to switch after seeing Jim's posts about it being a resource hog.   The free version of Avast is an antivirus only program so you will still need to get a firewall set up.

Stay away from format C:      A can of coke is much easier.   :laf:

Thanks Semp  :bowingsmilie:.   I had Trend Micro as my internet security on the other computer, is this a good choice for one of them thingy's or is there a better one?  I'm learning at a much faster rate than my brain will allow so all help is appreciated.

Toshiba's are good machine's. I got the Satellite A205 Laptop and I love it.

I run Security Shield on every box in the house and would never switch to anything else. It cost $50 bucks a year, use this link and you can get it for $20.

Do I still need another anti virus program with that cause it says on the site that it only has spam protection in outlook express .

No...Security Shield IZ anti virus software and it's also capable of blocking spam in Outlook. In other words, the ability to block spam in Outlook is an added feature.

The reason its only doing it in Outlook is because Outlook runs locally (on your machine).
Hotmail, Gmail, @yahoo, etc are all web based mails and they run their own protection....these are not run locally. (not on your machine)
