Killed four hours.

Fixing the main steed today.

Started with this at 12:30pm.







On our way to this.


Good job of hiding it but we found the defective water pump.




Then at 4:30 back to this, except it holds coolant now. :biggrin:

they do make so dang tight in there now days its hard to change anything.  You should have seen me trying to change a headlight bulb on my wifes car, had to tear the dang thing apart, no way a man or a boy could get his hands down behind it.

Just had a flashback of growing up, I had a 250 chevy straight 6 stepside pickup.   I could climb right in that engine compartment and fix anything  :eyebrownod: 

How bout them old fuel filters you could fix on the road by poping a nail through it ??

It took 5 hours to change the water pump on my old '79 T-bird. I had to remove the grill to get the radiator out just to get started.  :rolleye:  Looks like you got her up & running again tho!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

I had a '75 F100 with a straight 6. I could stand in there beside it too. Until I put '72 302 in it that is.  :biggrin:

Yeah it's a Nissan and yeah we checked the belt while we were in there.  I liked the old fuel pump you could pull two bolts and two lines just before the fuel filter as well Vic.  This water pump was replaced in September and it must have started eating into it self immediately cause it didn't get many miles on it. :argh:

I am not an expert on engines (or anything else for that matter) but I think I see the problem in your first picture.  Coke has a lot of acid in it and I am sure that is what is causing the problems with the engine.  I would suggest trying to slowly wean it off of caffeine.    :laf:

   Jerry I think even I may drink an excessive amount of coke :doh2:. The water pump I have pictured should not have the impeller recessed like that and even coke would eat out the whole channel.  I did notice on the box from the old water pump that it was re manufactured in the US[FnCountry], the new one was re manufactured in Canada so should make it about a week :pout:.  If she goes again I'm going to Nissan for a new one.
   One thing about Nissan's that I have noticed is their use of alloys in their bolts that the big three could have learned something from.  They don't rust and usually you only need a wrench to break them free.  With the old Fords I end up breaking them off :doh2:.  The Nissan also has far superior ways of tightening belts along with better engineered brackets.  Dodge and Chev seemed to add brackets just to hold brackets and none of them worked properly.  The Nissan use of step down bolts was a huge advantage over the North American straight bolt as well for vibration suppression.

Barry I am driving the truck that you need. A 1963 G M C it has a 305 v6 4 speed 4x2. I pull it in the locale county far. They usely put me in with the hafton 4x4 and I more than not I beat them. I like my truck !!!!
