Donny got up at 6am yesterday to drive 125 miles to an auction sale.  We met a total of 14 vehicles on our drive as the traffic was almost unbearable  :innocentwhistle:.  Upon arrival and looking over the sale items we sat down to observe the auction and the first item up for bid was a 4 1/2 inch grinder.

Seeing as I needed one [my old one had been used for a therapy session three days before and wasn't exactly what you'd call in working condition anymore ] I bought it for $10.

Donny being somewhat of a talkative dude had found an old boy of some 76 years to chew the fat with and this old boy spy's three pocket knives that he buy's for too much money in my opinion and then promptly says to my lad, "You got a knife in your pocket"?  Don shakes his head sadly at the old feller and gets handed

a Buck knife.  Now I'm telling you guys we never saw any of these guys before and they all took to my boy like ducks to water and seeing him talking with many of these older fellas made me as happy as a flea finding a new dog.
Got a few other things at the sale as I'll show you now.
$10

$2 and I sold 3 of them before the sale ended for $20 a piece .

$12.50

$10

Game works too.

Then some decoys sold for $45/dozen [there were two dozen that appeared to have never been out of their box's]

Hockey game from 1953

Pretty neat operating system

Don had to have a box of these.

and let his sister play with this one.

I didn't get either of these last two.

Truck sold for $4,250.

All in all it was a good day.
I say what I think not think what I say.

Vic, he would need some real trees to play with a lancelot on that grinder. I have to admit I really like mine though. You do need to be stout enough to control it

A boy on the farm that age without a decent pocketknife  :holdon: Shame on you Barry  :nofgr:

I would also believe they were paying for the spray rig instead of the truck. Nice little system he had there. You and I know you can build one a tad cheaper though  Jimmie

JohnP

I just can't believe you have a boy that didn't have a pocket knife   That should be considered child abuse.  So did you buy a truck?
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

HaMeR

I know Barry won't want me defending him none but there might be laws on that young fella up there carrying a pocket knife. I surely hope not & I'm from the FnCountry with all the signs & traffic so I can't say for sure.  :nono: :nono:

The boy didn't have one in his pocket at the time and that doesn't mean he doesn't have and/or lost a bunch already :nono:
John P the truck and sprayer were just to expensive for me yesterday as I can buy an old sprayer for $200 and put together what I want more for basically the price of a pump.  The truck just wasn't worth $3,500 to me.

The grinder works like a hot dang and has already paid for itself.
HaMeR we don't have laws on knives yet but it is a coming. :pout:

That hockey table is pretty cool. :eyebrownod:
I would think that would be worth some nice flip.

By the way, I couldnt help noticing that little statue behind Mandy on the floor, and the uncanny resemblance you have with it.
or.....is there a reason for that :laf:

I've seen one other original in my life and it sold for $1,200 .  They are making replica's of them now and they want $269 for them.

I'd like to have the tinkertoys and the hockey game myself. Jared and I would have a blast with them. Looks like a good day to me.  :highclap:

I wonder what happened to my old set of tinkertoys....... :wo: :wo:
