lol Outlaw, thats funny. I have my wife, kids and dogs to were they dont pay me a bit of mind. Its like OH GEE dads blowing calls again!...lol...Then they all go into diffrent rooms. Or I get a new call in the mail and as soon as they see it they just get up and leave...lol

And man I get some good looks going down the road in my truck calling to...lol...You know those people think.....What the hell is that guy doing! I keep a extra howler in the truck all the time and a few calls as well, also keep some calls in the desk at work.

Lots of good call makers here as well, would be hard to go wrong with any of them. I got calls from most of them in my collection and all of them are very good calls.

My favorite is my wifes cat running around the house, with its ears pinned back, looking for a place to hide.....  I dont know what it is more afraid of the howls or our vacum...

lol....I know what you mean. I cant even get a ear flicker out of the dogs anymore.....Done wore them out I guess, they wont even raise there heades to distress calls or turkey calls. But my Jack RT loves to howl with me. He jumps up on my foot stool in front of the desk and lets it go! Sure is funny! I will haft to get a pic of that and post it.

LOL,I know what you guys mean about practiceing alote.I have had to cut it out here lately though.I have to wait for the kids to leave. My 16 month old son gets mad when i break out the calls and wont let him have one.And i mean he throws a fit.He already got 2 of my old grunt calls. He is pretty happy with them until i break out those high pitched distress calls. Then he gets kinda mad because his grunt calls wont make that sound.Looks like i will have to get him his own distress call.So i will probally be devorsed here pretty soon.I dont think the wife can handle much more.

Maybe I should start a new thread for this question.  Does anyone know how to make a pheasant distress call?????  We have them all over around here, they are in the fields when I walk out, and even try to eat my snacks when I am sitting....   :shck:   I know there is actual pheasant calls out there, but I believe they dont sound like a pheasant distress.  I have been trying to copy the sound off the FoxPro sound list, but just can seem to get it...

thanks... justin

Diferent open reeds will make diferent sounds. Like the critter call peewee is best for higher pitches , such as birds. And the critter call magnum works great for canine distress sounds as well as adult deer distress.

That is the reason I like the Cronk Killer call and the killer jr. I have the best sounds I can get in a wide variety with these two calls. Although, try as I might I still can't get a pig distress out of them but am working on it.

Practice with your open reeds by just sliding your teeth along the reed listening to the pitches it gives you. See what the diferent calls do. Whne you find that sound that comes close to what you want , then try to create that sound. It doesn't have to be perfect in pitch, just as long as it comes close. Then try and create the rythem of that sound, that's all you have to do to get a coyote interested. It just has to sound like something in pain.

And if its s diferent sound from what others in the area are using, then you have a secret weapon.Jimmie

I am working on ordering some more calls and my pheasant distress.... hopefully put it to use soon and see some results.
