What do you guys use to clean the lens on your cameras?

I can't tell if I got fish slime, potato salad, or copenhagen showing up in my pics, and it's gotta go.
I wanna use a Qtip with some windex or rubbing alcohol  but something tells me uh uh  :nono:

Go to wally world and at the eye center they have a lense cleaner
They come in packets like wet ones/handi wipes,or you could read the owners manual and see what they suggest

Microfiber works pretty well to get rid of dust or lightly remove a small spot.  Since you have a MAJOR contaminate you are going to need to get something there to start to loosen whatever it is.  A cotton tip can work if it is laboratory quality, which most of the average ones are not.  You might be able to find a quality one in either the optic or audio section of most stores.  I have used Formula MC in the past and it works pretty well for most cleanings.  (Which reminds me that I need to get some more of it.)   Some of the cheap stuff works O.K. if you are cleaning the windshield of your truck, but you don't want to put it on a decent piece of glass - like a lens.

Jerry

Update:  Went to order some new Formula MC and found this stuff.  http://www.ror.net/    I ordered one from another site and will let you know how it works when it gets here.  If you want I can put something fowl on a mirror or something to give it a try because I am not putting fish slime, potato salad, or copenhagen on my lens to let you know if I can clean it off.

Sorry....I'll go back to my corner now.  :doh2:
sometimes I wonder....is that getting closer..... then it hits me

I had a personal conflict the other day, now I'm not speaking to myself.... I'm getting lonesome

I met the girl of my dreams, I was the man of her dreams too.....she used the term "nightmares" though.

Mike,

I think I have found the cause of your camera problem.

lens paper is pretty cheap and works well

Coyote Kate used to use those Walmart  packaged wipes until her glasses got bad. She'll never use 'em again. Warm water & a clean facial tissue is all she'll use.  FWIW

:wo: I figgerd the jeweler's rouge would be less harsh than valve grinding compound.

Interesting Al, thanks.

Jerry it wasnt really fish slime, potato salad, or copenhagen.  :laf: I think it was just water and dust.
Obviously the lenses closes so it's not something that can be seen readily, and it's pretty easy to assume it's staying clean with it being closed most of the time.

I ran down to take some pics of a resort I'm building a website for and when I got back, half the pics were junk. :doh2:
Thats what got me pawing around behind that lens cover.

This pic was the worst
