Bills Custom Calls

Kurtis decided he would help split firewood this morning,so I placed the wood under the log splitter and Kurtis would pull the handle, after about a half an hour Kurtis made the reply he was hot and sweating and he needed to take a break  :nono: I agreed and brought out the sledge and a wedge and told him to have at it

After about 4 good hits with an 8 pound sledge

We then took a break for a few minutes. Then I asked him what he wanted to use to split wood
Here is his choice  :laf:

He didn't ask for another break till all the wood was split that was cut up.he is a quick study  :alscalls:

Tell him if he does it at -40 it goes much better.  Good to see him learning the old way too.  Not many can swing an axe or hammer anymore up here.  My boys are lucky cause I give them the opportunity to learn :eyebrownod:.
I say what I think not think what I say.

Today was his fist time running any of that equipment and I thought he done pretty good at it  :yoyo:

:laf: There could have been alot of calls made with just what we split up this morning
Some of that walnut looked pretty nice but I have enough of that to make one call every day for a year and still not run out  :laf:

I just checked the temp it is now 95* so we are on break and since the bud litght is going down way to smooth for me we are probably done for the day

Just think if ya swing that sledge enough you will be able to carry and shoot that AR with ease that you carried around for Straycat last year at the LBL   :alscalls:

Gotta be able to keep warm in the winter Kurtis, and it wont be no fun standing out there with below 0 temps making wood.
Did Grandma come over and help? :innocentwhistle:

Kurtis, I knew you built a great campfire  but I didn't know you were a lumberjack too.

It looks like you did a mighty fine job, making little sticks out of big ones.  :highclap: :yoyo:

Edit:
BTW, Bill... "your" sledge and wedge look to be in almost mint condition.

You sure are earning your keep Kurtis.  I, like you prefer the big red machine over that other primitive tool.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs
