Well that was fun :innocentwhistle:.  I phoned the guy who has land 1/2 a mile North of where I spent 4 hours last night and asked if I could steal a part off an old Ford truck left on his property by a fellow in a little financial trouble 10-20 years ago.   I was told, "Only if you take the whole truck" :laf: :laf:.  I then went with help to see if it met the stringent requirements of the proposed mission.  I found this in the bush.

With this identification tag.

With which I deduced it was a Ford  :readthis:

Then I had the helper

Figure out the year to 1977 :whew:.
So we proceeded to tearing and ripping[heavy on the ripping{I love ripping}] in order to get this out.

After I sent said helper home for one more tool I had forgot, :doh2: with my smokes on the dash :pout:, I got everything loose that I could without cutting the wires for the one bolt i needed the wrench for :whew:.  Tool showed up and used the wrench to remove last bolt.
So we could leave the truck looking like this.

Now under this end of that plywood on the ground was a hornets nest and they didn't like you getting on the plywood .  They also liked the flowers on them little bush's by the bumper.  They were cool as they let us go about our business pretty much alone .

It's a good thing you didn't really need the wires around the steering wheel column :thumb2:.

She was a local truck from day 1.

Lost a little blood[more to the mosquitos]

Tool put the wire in a box and they are now on their way to your house[Maybe] :sad3:

Is this the right end

Thanks for the opportunity to go enjoy and evening with the funniest person I know alive[I got a couple dead buddies that are pretty funny :innocentwhistle:].  The chance to obtain a "New" truck from a fellow who most think is a bit of a [locust thorn can do this] but because I communicate I get to hunt and do neat things like this.

I gotta go make a living now :pout: :pout:
I say what I think not think what I say.

It's probably a good thing I wasn't along. I woulda tried taking that whole box :eyebrow: I can't believe how good of shape the panels are in on that whole truck, wow.

This is gonna cost me dearly isnt it?  :sad3:  Especially for pulling you AND Mandy off your sprayers.

She was in pretty fair shape underneath too .  I doubt the old girl ever went over 70mph in her life.

Well, were halfway there. :eyebrow:
The weather freak said it was gonna be another smoker today so I figured I'd least get me new direction switch installed while it was still tolerable out this morning.

This proved to be quite a task, and before I knew it, I was drowning in my own sweat :laf:
I'm not sure what kind of magic they use to feed a bundle of 10 wires down through the column at the factory, but I'd sure like to see it.

I finally decided that if I lined up all the ends of each wire, then pulled each one back 3/4's of inch below the next, I'd have a tapered end to the whole bundle :eyebrownod: Wrap that pig in tape and shove, I say shove her in!

With a little help from a homemade puller coming up through the bottom, 45 minutes later I ended up with this :congrats:

Something in the security is preventing me from doing this in all one post...so I gotta break it up here, till I figure that out.

I think I found out why I was having so much trouble with the lights too.  Some Einstein prior to this one tried putting in a directional switch also.
Problem was he had no idea how to do it, so he did...what appears to be, chopped the harness up and fed it up through the bottom, and then spliced everything back together.
I quick looked at the VIN number to see if the truck came from West Virginia.

So now this moron has all these butt splices inside the column, and you KNOW what that's going to do when the gear selector
goes up and down?
Its going to make hamburger out of everything in there.

Here's a pic of the old switch and harness.

The whole time I'm doing all this, I can here that all too famous sound of mud wasps going to work. I had no idea where they were, but they werent bothering me at the time.

I decided to pop the hood and see what they were building since it finally decided they was under there having a free for all.
WaLaaa...it didn't take me long to chop that structure down and create a frenzy :innocentwhistle:

Mission accomplished until the next package arrives :eyebrow: Thanks again Barry.
Now I gotta a small mess to clean up and get ready for the next mission.

i do enjoy following someone else in these matters as it makes the brain work a mite sometimes .  What's with the automatic trans :loco:.  Looks to me like you do good work while under duress sir :bowingsmilie:.
I say what I think not think what I say.

FinsnFur

The automatic transmission is what transfers the power from the engine to the wheels, via a pair of drive shafts and a transfer case.

I got a pretty good sized box in the mail today from Canada :yoyo: :congrats: :highclap: :yahoo:

I rummaged through it as fast as I could looking for some homemade cookies....never found a one

I do gotta tell ya though.  :laf: There was a little orange oil filter box inside with the other goodies that kinda rattled and rolled inside when ya moved it.
I knew without a doubt that Barry sent me that damn hornets nest. I opened her as slooooow as I could and kept a keen ear the whole time.

.......but nope! Just screws and bulbs etc. :whew:
LOL

Thanks again you guys Mandy, Barry and Farmer guy. :highclap:

Now I got a project to tend to.

Glad it got there Jim.  They told Mandy it would take 4 days and that was 6 days ago :argh:.  She was ready to take on the posty's today if it didn't arrive .  Mandy the Farmer and I say "Your welcome".  Now get her flying and show some pics :readthis:.

Well, that turned out to be so simple I was kind of inviting chaos :laf:
I wondered if I was going to pull this off before it got dark so I didn't stop to take pics of the process.

But everything way better then planned. 3 hours start to finish, tear out the old, clean up the new and securely install it.
No heat and or mosquitoes to deal with and temps in the 60's. It was SWEET!
