I'm thinking this will be a good thing for the Pat household  ;yes;.  I expect more pictures and stories now as well and I hope you enjoy every minute of it :yoyo:.

Pat,

I am sure that you will find (now that you are retired) that the rocking chair will not get the use that it has in the past.  You will be "out" and "on the go" more than you ever thought possible.  You will ask yourself how you would get everything done if you were still working - answer is, you wouldn't get everything done.   The only bit of advice that I can give is be willing to say, "No."  That doesn't mean that you can do volunteer work or anything like that, but YOU pick what you want to do and say no to the rest.  It was sort of scary the number of times that I heard, "Now that you are retired you can be in charge of ________" or "Now that you are retired you can work on ________."  There are some great projects that you, or anyone else for that matter, can help on but you need to remember that you can say No.  I ran for president of the Fish and Game and really enjoy it.  I also enjoy being the chairman of the Board of Directors.  Then there were a couple of other clubs that decided I should join so that I could be president of them as well or just become the executive director if I didn't want to be an actual member.   :doh2:    I knew enough to say, "Sorry, but if I did that I wouldn't have time to do a decent job where I am already doing volunteer work".  So enjoy retirement and pick what you want to do or not do.

A big hearty congratulations to ya Pat.  You'll be busier now than you were when you were working!  like Jerry said pick and choose only those thing which you really enjoy doing and learn to say NO.

Many thanks for all the well wishes guys. I am looking forward to retirement. I hope to spend a lot of time hunting and fishing. I've also got much work to do around the house that I've managed to put off for years!  :madd: :madd: And I plan to travel some and aggravate various family members who live in other parts of the country.  :eyebrow: :eyebrow: I may even come see some of you!   :innocentwhistle: :innocentwhistle:

Congratulations Pat!! It's great to see your time pay off for you like this. I wish you the very best in the coming years & our door is also open whenever you're up this way my Friend!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

I'm sure there are gonna be some of the,,  less desirable folks of your fine town that won't miss you but they will be waaaay outnumbered by the good folks that will. I'm sure a lot of your community are sad to see such a fine upstanding Officer retire but I bet they are just as happy for you.  :yoyo: :yoyo:
