  I've never owned a store bought sling shot and have shot many pails of rocks.  I couldn't carry this fella's ammo for him.  Why Dogwood .  I always used a kind of red willow here.  Used to be that inner tubes were made with red rubber and it was by far the best i could get my hands on.  There wasn't a safe old tire in our neighborhood while I was growing up.
