From my buddy The Dougster:

So I come into work this morning to an email from the VP of IS. It is addressed to the whole IS department and one of the lines is “The next few years will be very challenging for each of us individually & for our team as a whole.  “

This gets me thinking of some other “very challenging” recent events….

I began my day by using the hospital facilities. I found the sterile white bathroom discomforting from my normal sandbox. This to me was “very challenging.” Especially the elongated seat and the lack of lumbar support.

I heard a news story yesterday. Poor people in Methuen had to go without heat for a day. One woman with an accent said I” it was terrible” her house went “down to 55 degrees.”  My house was at 42 degrees when I heard this story. Oh yea, every time the propane truck pulls up in my driveway it is $1000. I wonder how much this women paid for heat this year…

My pager just went off. I am talking to someone who I find “very challenging.”  She is chewing gum in my ear whining about a program she can’t access. She refuses to answer my simple questions and is ranting like a lunatic. OK, I was just put on hold by someone who called me for advice. “Very challenging” indeed…..

Unemployment was extended again for 13 months. I have a  family member working under the table collecting MA unemployment during these “very challenging” times.. His live in girlfriend has one address and he has another. Both his kids and the girlfriend are covered under free Mass Health. He had the heat on 72 and a window open. I noticed he was running around in shorts and a wife beater shirt.   Obviously he is not paying for his heat in these “very challenging” times…….    Beer in fridge, pizza on way, and a bag of grass on the table. Patriots were on their way to a 43 â€" 3 romping of a “very challenging” team. He was “challenged” by his daughter who wanted to play with dad but dad was more interested in his treats and the Patriots game….. I left and took note I had $5 in my pocket and was returning to a 45 degree house with a wife and son already asleep. Would give anything to spend a few days chilling with them after working 2 “very challenging” jobs and yet he seemed to be living the good life while complaining he was very busy…. My drive home that night was “very challenging” as I thought about these facts.

China owns us, we are dependant on foreign oil, and we have no game plan during these “very challenging” times. The answers are fairly straight forward yet we continue to elect these clowns who are either in for big business or think the presidency is an excuse to take the daughters on tour and have U2 and Oprah perform at The White House. All the while, Rome burns and the majority of the people are doped up on mind numbing anti-depressants content to be staring at Tom Brady’s jock strap. Makes you wonder how deeply the enemies are implanted in this country. “Very challenging” indeed.

Well. Merry Christmas everyone. I am out at three and I will be picking up some self prescribed medication. After 6 Sam Adams beers…. Seems the Octoberfest is gone ‘till next year…. I find this “most challenging” of all recent events. Anyway, a rack of beer and thoughts of longer, warmer, happier days will make me a cheerful man.
