In the late 80's/early 90's I was camping in the high Sierra's.  In the night sky I saw an aircraft contrail that looked like puff-balls, not a solid line like normal jets leave.
Just now, at 12:15 PM, 12/28/10, looking east from Henderson, NV, I saw it again.  It launched from Nellis AFB heading south, and had a chase plane.  I think it's the Aurora, with a PDE propulsion system.  The PDE aircraft left a contrail that looked like cotton balls on a string, while the chase plane left a straight, solid contrail.  Then the PDE accelerated and the puff-balls came closer and closer until they were a solid line and the aircraft disappeared.  The chase plane trying to keep up.

The planes were gone less than 60 seconds after I spotted them, so no pictures.  I didn't want to take my eyes off them anyway.

Nasa that's the new Hybrid jet engines. The puffs were the jet engine kickin in and the space between the puffs  is when the electric motor kicked in.  :eyebrow:

The money the goverment saves in jet fuel will be used to buy more private banks and American businesses.  :madd:

Alright just kidding!! It sounds pretty cool I will have to do a Google search on the Aurora with a PDE propulsion system.

I have seen the contrails you are talking about but have never seen the aurora making them. But yead  Pulse Detination Engine is supposed to be dang fast, it would give a normal jet a hard time keeping up
Don't bring shame to our sport.

He died for dipshits too.

I am assuming it was the Aurora, since Lockheed designed it for the Pulse Detonation Engine.  The USAF still denies that such an aircraft exists, but nothing in the air today makes a puffball contrail.  BTW, the Aurora is supposed to be capable of Mach 6.  That's about 4,190 mph at 30,000 ft.  Even faster at higher altitudes.

some swedish fisherman actually saw the aurora flying over them a few years back , it is super fast from waht have heard . never seen the pearl necklace contrail, would love to see it

Haha, this ain't no conspiracy "theory" buddy.  The NRO has been funding research for this technology for 3 decades.  From what I saw today, they've got it working.

It probably was the pulse drive aurora. I just saw a TV show about it last week sometime. It didn't have a pic of the plane but did film the contrail being made. I just can't remember what show it was on. Some kind of show about govt. secrets.

NASA

securpro, you may be right after all.  I just found out that directly east of Nellis AFB is ............. Groom Lake!!!!   :innocentwhistle:
