So Saturday night I get hit with the stomach flu, puts me down pretty hard. Got a little better today,
but still not good enough to go to work. About 1:00 this afternoon I start getting this pain in my right
side. It came on pretty strong for about 15 minutes then started to subside a bit, but still freaked me
out enough I told my son I was gonna take a shower in case I had to go to the doctor. It went away
for the most part for about a half hour. Then it started to come back HARD. We have a hospital in town,
but doctor in another town about a half hour away. So it's hard enough for me to go to the Dr. anyways,
but I debated on going to the ER here, or call and see if I could get in to our Dr. I took the gamble, they
said they could get me in in about an hour and a half. Well about 5 min later I told my son we were leavin
now. The half hour ride seemed like an eternity, and I was in such pain I wondered if I made the right decision
about not goin into the ER. I had to get signed in, get down to do some blood work and attempt to pee in
a cup. Then get told to go wait in the Dr's waiting area. After another eternity I had to go get somebody
and say that I needed some help soon. At this point I was still thinkin maybe appendix ruptured and I was
dying as I waited there  :doh2:. They said the Dr didn't want to give me nothin until she saw what the tests
looked like. The pain was enough to make me sweat through my shirt and make me hurl. Finally after the Dr
actually seeing me, and getting those results back, she decided to give me a shot in the butt, which after
a few minutes was like heaven compared to what I was experiencing. Off to a CT scan, a little more waiting,
then the confirmation that I have a kidney stone. Now, I remember a few other of you guys saying you've
had the pleasure of this too. Holy crap !! It sucks !! So now I'm drinking plenty of fluids, hoping the pain
meds don't ware off before I pass this sucker! So if you all can see fit to say a little prayer, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks !

I dont envy ya one bit. :nono:
That flu bug bit me and laid me out all weekend. Worst case I've had in many many years. Lost just over 5lbs in 48 hours.

You "pregnancy" just adds fuel to this problem, Man talk about a double whammy. Ouch!
I'll be praying for ya Bud. I wont be thinking about ya, cause even that makes me hurt, but I'll pray for ya.

Remember this well! The last one I tried to man up to was 3 x5 mm and had me completely backed up(with urine). That shot in the butt was probably Torridol. Great stuff when your really hurtin'. You can look forward to more of these episodes in the future. :readthis: Best of luck with it. Hope you dont have the complications I had. RP

Prayers for a quick and uneventful passage.  I started reading and about a third of the way thought that it sounded similar to when I had a kidney stone.  I was lucky in that they started pumping in pain killers as soon as the doctor arrived at the hospital.  Just keep drinking lots of water and peeing in a cup so you can have the stone checked when you pass it.  You will know when it passes - just feels like a huge burr when it heads out.

I have been there and done that, not a pleasant situation to be in for sure, main thing now is to get rid of that  sucker, we will be praying for you. cc

Well we got this little sucker passed ! It's hard to imagine
somethin that size can cause that much pain ! Every time
they sent me to another area in the hospital to wait, I was
pretty sure I was gonna die right there.  :laf:
Not a very fun experience.  :nono:
Thanks guys, I appreciate it !

Ok, now that we got through that, and I've never had one....whats worse?.... the pain of whatever hurts while your waiting? or the pain of passing gravel through your gavel?

Oh I got a name for it Glen !  :nono:

Actually Jim the passing of it was not bad at all. To be descriptive (yeah I know :puke:)
I started to feel like I had to go to the bathroom worse, there was like a split second
shot of pain, and then easy flowin.  The hour and a half to two hours of pain
I had before they gave me meds was the worst! I thought it was never gonna end.
Like when the nurse comes in and asked me what would I rate the pain as, as I'm hunched
over the table, look up with sweat rolling off my face, ask her to move cause I'm gonna puke in
the trash can, and she's like, "ok, I'll put that down as a 10"  No, really  :doh2:  :laf:

"Ok, I'll put that down as a 10"   LMAO! Well at least she got it.

I'm glad it's over for ya. I think I'd be afraid to pee for two months if the rock hurt too bad going through the pipe. :doh2:

Geez Scott sorry you had the problem :puke:.  Seems like a large number on here have had it .  For those who have, how much fluids were you drinking a day?  Wouldn't drinking Coke be a good thing as they say it will eat anything .
I say what I think not think what I say.

In Most cases Barry but not this
Soda pop is one of the causes along with tea dairy products
Thats why the doctor wants them caught so they can do tests on them and then they can tell you what not to eat and drink anymore

Thanks Barry. Yeah I brought it back to the hospital today so they can
send it in and analyze it. I'll be kinda (but maybe not  :nono:) interested
to see what they say it is. I really don't think I intake anything too excessive
really . If anything I'd say it's partially because I don't drink enough
fluids period.  My average day consists of about 2 (sometimes 3) the regular
size travel mugs of coffee, 1 bottle, usually Diet Mt Dew of pop for the day,
and a couple glasses of usually crystal lite at night. I don't over do any dairy,,,
we'll see I guess.
