  My laptop has gotten to where it won't play "youtube" video's.. and do a few other things that require adobe "flash player" and "reader".. I've tried to update 'em, but for some reason the upload just stops... the upload bar just sits there and eventually stops completely...?   I'm running Vista (about as bad as it gets) my daughter has windows "7".. tried to load it there and put it on a jump drive and her puter does the same.  I have Bellsouth DSL... and and am running "The Shield Deluxe"... can't find anything in the shield that says prevent .exe downloads not getting any warning... even looked it up on the .net and disabled all "adobe" stuff and still I can't get them....? any suggestions?

If your having a problem downloading something on both computers, it could be caused by a few things.
It could be your internet connection.
Your web browser.
The Adobe site itself.

Try using a different browser first.

Remove all instances of Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash Player from your computer.  Reinstall the free downloads and upgrades.

I been having the same troubles as  yote
everytime  I try and watch a link to a video it tells me i have to down load the Adobe Flash Player to watch this video, and I cant down load it .
it goes though the hole down load prosses then wont work, or it stops and tells me that something is already running this program . and it not running.
I did remove everything to do with flash player and adobe then try and load it up and still dont work..

I haven't been able to see any porn for weeks

I'm running Firefox Jim...  I actually thought the same thing and tried it on IE... same problem. I also tried Google Chrome (no help) and then thought maybe Chrome was causing the whole thing and uninstalled it.  I thought the same thing as Al said and deleted everything adobe (flash player, and Reader) that was a mistake  :doh2: remember I can't download 'em... had to carry a jump drive to work and get 'em back that way... actually just got flash player didn't realize reader did so much Slag.... I have a shipment coming in and can't get to the UPS tracking without adobe "Reader".   :argh:  I also couldn't upload pics to "photobucket" So it's not just the youtube... but I do miss that you can get some pretty good tips on things there.  Here's the screen I get when I try to upload this time it's for "reader"...  it is and claims I'm getting 35.2 kb/sec.... but the bar doesn't move.   FWIW I'm not getting the little click window at the top when firefox wants you to give permission either.

Thanks for the input guys!

I run a program called "Pitstop Optimize 3" every day and it keeps all kinds of errors, even in your registry, squared away. You could have some kind of malware causing problems.

I thought the same Al... I ran a scan with "The Shield" it didn't find anything.

I don't know as much as some of these guys, but I agree with Al. The issues I had were registry and malware, and my tech-guru brother-in-law recommended Spybot search and destroy. That found a few and Malwarebytes anti-malware (both are free) cleaned up a lot more that McCaffee never found. Running disc check and Regcure helped the registry issues, but damage was done. Eventually had to remove and reload the operating system. Hope this helps and good luck!

McAfee is junk. Their in it for the money and the purpose of anti virus has been left behind.  The fact that it comes shipped free with most OS's just galvanizes the whole theory.

I looked through the support stuff... closest thing was where it acts like it's going to work for a few secs... they say to update flash player but I've got the latest installed now.  10.3.181   Man you have to love these things huh?  :laf:

OK this is interesting....  I looked through my "download" folder to make sure I'd get away with it... Uninstalled flashplayer... unisnstalled  Firefox 4.0.... then reinstalled them both... same trouble... got to looking through the folder and saw I had version 3.5.2 (firefox) so uninstalled 4.0 again and installed 3.5.2... downloaded flash player (no troubles took a few secs) then down loaded adobe reader no problem just a few secs there too... guess the problem was some how the 4.0 version... it still won't play the youtube videos but for a couple secs though...

Amen, to Jim's remarks about McAfee.  I wouldn't put that crap on a doghouse.   The program I referenced before, "Pitstop Optimize 3" is the only thing I have ever had that takes care of all that stuff most of us can never fully understand.  It has no problem working with Windows Defender activated from Microsoft either.  In every instance that a friend has installed it, their problems disappeared.  I run Avast Pro Anti Virus, Windows Defender, the Microsoft Firewall, and Pitstop Optimize 3.  Knocking on wood, but I haven't had any instance of any kind of virus, malware, spyware or any of those other creepy, crawly things in over 5 years.

  ... well this keeps getting more and more interesting.... everything was working pretty well.  Thought I had "reader" but went to open an e-mail with a pdf file (recipt for something I bought) it said I needed "reader" again.  I went to download it (again) and it wants to download adobe "downloader"... I went ahead and did it, but now my troubles are back..???  My daughters computer is running the same version 4.0 of firefox and has been doing the same thing as this one.

I got four machines here, and only one of them has Vista, but I think I'd be either doing some searching on Windows® website, or giving them a phone call.
Since you got more then one machine with the same problems, leads me to believe others are too.
