I'm looking for UPDATED aerial/topo maps of the local public lands.  All the ones I've tried to include the map link here show outdated material.  Where could one find newer ones (in color preferred)

Download Google Earth.
Read the System Requirements before you do. She's a real CPU hog and you need a fairly up to date video card and monitor.

Did that, and for some reason, the area I want to look at doesn't show up when zoomed in.  Have the same problem w/ other mapping sites .  The best one I've found is out of date. Hell, they have a paved  road going through the tract.   Looking at some of the older photos, you can tell that the mowed roads aren't as defined as now due to growth on the sides.

Could a 10 year difference change how I should scout/plan for future trips?

Not really. What you are looking for are the terrain features . It is along the changes in terrain that coyotes do most of their travel.

Take along a copy and note the changes you see yourself and where you find the sign. Note closely as possible where and what direction they are traveling. You will begin to see patterns forming. Jimmie

I've got the same problems and it's due to being in a remote area I suppose. I cannot zoom in here, but if I dial up Dallas, I can see folks cloths hanging on the cloths line. I'm SERIOUS!  :eyebrownod:

Terra Server is going to be the best bet then, but your still going to get an aerial photo that's from the late 90's

As suggested a lot of the maps in GE, TS and others are outdated and have a lot of areas with very low resolution because high res may not have been taken of those more remote areas.   Best bet is to buy membership in a service that keeps there maps current, but even these will not have high res for all areas.    Can't give you a link, but I've seen a few of those pay services on the Internet.

The aerial maps button on this board is the most up to date for my area that I have found,
and comes in very clear, and the map is less then a year old. The reason i know this is because our house was built in the spring of last year and it is on there.
