Add together one salt lick, water and a bit of fresh grass... what do you get?

Born and raised in the southern highlands of Appalachia, I'm just an ol' country boy who enjoys calling coyotes... nothing more, nothing less.

Nice !
Always fun to see the little spotted suckers,
and growth in velvet.

Nice looking deer. All I ever see in the backyard are spikes. Just once I'd like to see their daddy, unless maybe he's a spike too.  :alscalls:

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

A busted grill, crooked headlight, mashed fender, and a driver side door that wont open? :doh2:

I was going to guess that you get a backyard picnic, but a couple of the other answers might be better.

Jerry

P.S.  Jim, do you shake a little when you see a deer picture now?

JohnP

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing them.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

Very pretty deer Chet. Hope they make it through the upcoming season. Coyotes bothering you out your way?

Hey, it's Bopeye, my long lost coyote hunting partner! Long time no see'um, how's you been doing, my friend?

"Coyotes bothering you out your way?"  Well, there's still a few around. :eyebrow: Just the other day one of my locals was yip howling in the front yard. I wasn't home, the wife went out and ran it off... twice. When the temps cool down a bit we need to thin out a few of the pesky critters. They sure tend to make the deer nervous.

In the last week our backyard bucks have shed their velvet and are feeling their oats. I've been seeing several fawns and young turkeys this month. Even with the hot & dry weather here it looks to be a good year for the deer and turkey populations. All that I've spotted so far have been in excellent condition.

Disclaimer:
I apologize in advance if my resurrecting of this thread brings back horrific memories for those persons suffering from whitetailaphobia.   :sick2:

I'm all for trying to thin a few out Chet. Problem is hunting that rugged stuff you call a backyard.  :whew:  Six feet into that tree line and you fall 100 feet straight down into some very inhospitable, thick stuff.   :holdon:

:wo: Aw what the heck......sounds like fun!  :yoyo:
