The thread about mesh covered telephone poles to protect them from woodpeckers that think the singing wires mean a pole full of bugs -- reminded me of a story I heard last week.

A friend in Campbell River, BC was walking to the library when he heard a twanging type sound like stretched cables being hit, high up in trees above him.  Thinking it was a woodpecker or something whacking on highline wires, he walked and gawked to find the source of the sound.  Two cougars were entwined high in a fir tree making the racket.

Since it was not far from a library and kids, he went in to the library and phoned some kind of authority, but the lions were gone when he went back out.
