With the re-election of President Obama, I firmly believe that the country envisioned by our Founding Fathers and memorialized in our founding documents is now lost. In the election's wake, I am now convinced that too many people in this country believe that:

(1) big government is appropriate and good,

(2) big government must take care of us from cradle to grave and guarantee equality of outcomes,

(3) the loss of freedom that big government breeds through more intrusive regulation, intervention and control over our lives is acceptable,

(4) confiscatory taxation of income is morally acceptable,

(5) class warfare is acceptable because, after all, the rich only became rich by plundering the middle class and the poor,

(6) that the constitution is more like a set of guidelines as opposed to the law of the land,

(7) energy independence through the harvesting of America's rich fossil fuel and natural gas reserves is unimportant and merely aspirational,

(8) abortion, Big Bird, gay marriage and other social issues take precedence over constitutional government,

(9) government bailouts with tax payer dollars are fine and dandy, and

(10) limited government at the federal level as envisioned by our Founding Fathers is a crack pot, extreme right wing idea that must go the way of the dodo bird.

It is a sad day in America because the ignorant electorate who voted for Obama voted against American exceptionalism in favor of European style mediocrity. In short, progressivism has carried the day.

I totally agree, this country is screwed for the next four years.

Well the American people were at a crossroad in this election. We had the choice to decide the direction that the country would go. The masses have spoken and we now know where the future of America is headed. We are becoming a socialist country...

We are not the first great nation to succumb to the socialist erosion of economics. It has happened to many other countries. England, France, Germany. The choice has now been made and we are joining the socialist ranks of the world. We will now be joining the likes of Europe, China, and Russia in our new "leadership". America is now joining the list of has been nations. We are the last of the great nations that shaped the world. Sadly those days are now behind us. There is no longer any value or respect for being a great, free country of morals, values and liberty. This is no longer the America we grew up in.

America had a good run. It is a shame to see it coming to an end. It does not seem possible. For those of us that read Atlas Shrugged and thought it could never happen must now face how wrong we are. We will now see the kind of policies that have taken over Europe and other socialist countries. The government control of health care is already happening. We can expect other socialist things in our future like $10 a gallon gas, Value added tax (VAT) like the have all over Europe and Southern Africa. And how far off is a gun confiscation? We already know Obama wants gun control. Obama is going to have the UN making laws in the USA.

The United States that we grew up in is gone. Obama has more in common with Hugo Chavez then Bill Clinton. The people have made their choice and they chose the cold comfort of the nanny government instead of the always difficult choice of freedom, liberty, and personal responsibility. They think they have gained something, but they will find out when their hours are cut, layed off, their buying power lowered by inflation and the dept reaching 20+ trillion that they have lost so many things they never valued. And when they do understand it will be too late.

Freedom cannot be voted back in. It will have to be fought for in a revolution as it was when this country was founded. I don't think it will ever happen. The future generations will just accept a lower standard of living and rationating instead of surplus. Obama wants to lower America down to the level of a third world country and the people have spoken and want him to do it.

I did not ever think I would see this day come...

I'm not shocked at all.  People are still as dumb as they were 4 yrs ago.  I agree with your thoughts above, FOs, and feel almost sick that he has another four yrs to wreck our country.  :puke: bama

I'm in shock because I honestly dont know a single person that supports him. I have never met anyone that said anything good about him, or that kinda hoped he'd get a second chance or anything even remotely indicating........and the next thing I know he's in like flint.

I wish the polls were still open, I'd go down and spend a night like this

Some scholars believe that an ancient Mayan calendar points toward December 21, 2012 as being the day our world will come to an end as we know it.

I’m afraid they were off by just a tad....  the correct day was November 6, 2012.

Born and raised in the southern highlands of Appalachia, I'm just an ol' country boy who enjoys calling coyotes... nothing more, nothing less.

Great picture, Jim.  Could've used that one as they were exiting my voting station.

I'm not so much worried for me and my wife because we will get along just fine.   But the future for our kids and grand kids is looking very dim.    A sad day indeed.

LOL Jim, yeah, just like 4 years ago....go around and ask anybody if they voted for him and all you'll get is "not me!" Well, somebody sure as heck voted for him, but no one wants to admit it.

Things are going to have to get worse before they get better unfortunately.
