Opening Day Buck

Yesterday was Kentucky's opening of deer gun season.   This fella was chasing a sweet young thing when he got a little too close to my tree stand.     Spine shot at about 7 yards from 20 feet up a tree.  13 pointer (10 main points with 3 stickers), 18 inch inside spread.  He was a heavy bastard.  I about had a heart attack dragging him through the woods to where I could get to my 4 wheeler.

7 yards and 20 feet straight up would be tough. Trying to picture that and that makes the ole spine pretty dang close to the pump station in comparison.

That is one GREAT looking buck.  I don't know if I could have pulled the trigger since I would have been shaking pretty bad.

Kudos to you Semp for taking a nice deer.  With a rack like that, he would have given you a good ride if you had jumped right on him and rode away.  I'd pay a few bucks to see that.  Enjoy your backstraps.
