We had a great trip and managed to summit four peaks on Thursday and Friday: Porter, Cascade, Tabletop and Phelps. We were worried about reaching the summits and not having a view due to low cloud cover and intermittent snow, but we really lucked out and got some spectacular views...and a LOT of excercise!

My daughter Tori at a break between Cascade and Porter mountains...

Yep, there's snow up here still...

That wee little yellow spec is me on top of Cascade Mtn.

And a spruce trap Tori lured me into...very funny.

Going up Tabletop time to give the snowshoes a workout...

The Adirondack Butt Slide...there's more than one way to descend a mountain.

Another shot near the summit of Cascade...

And Photobucket just quit working so I'll have to finish this up later...

It's still winter here too :eyebrownod:
Man that looks like a lot of work Steve. Thanks for taking us along.
Was there three of ya or did you set the camera up and walk away from it on the last pic? That looks pretty cool.

We picked up a climbing partner just before Porter and we all climbed together the rest of the time we were there. I hate to see people climbing soloi in those conditions so I invited him to join us. Here are some more pics...

Alpine vegetation zone...don't step here!

A steep section going up Tabletop...

The trees start closing in on the trail the closer you get to the summit...

Summit of Tabletop Mountain with a new climbing partner...

Closing in on the summit of Phelps Mountain...

Some peaks I've already climbed as seen from Cascade...

A snow squall moved in on us while we were on top of Phelps Mountain...shortly after it cleared up a little bit and this flock of geese was spotted heading north.

Good times...can't wait to go back after turkey season...Thanks for looking,
Steve

Unibomber? Really? We always tease my daughter for looking like the Unibomber with her hoody up all the time. This guy doesn't look ANYTHING like the unibomber. He only had a mustache if I recall correctly.

This is the shortest his beard has been too. He said it was down to his belly button, but he got tired of tying it up while working and looking like Yosemite Sam.

Man that's a work out for sure, especially on snowshoes!!  :congrats:

Great pictures Steve  :yoyo: looks like a great time. Did you camp there?

Thanks Todd and Pat...we usually stay in the hostel w/ a private room for the first trip up of the year. Next one we will be camping in the wilderness amongst the peaks...wanna go?

We saw fisher and lots of marten tracks, but that was nearly 3 miles back in and only after we gained some elevation. I did get some good info for the November trapline from the guy I met on the way home. This season is going to be some fun!!
