I'm learning more and more on what this stuff looks like. I've had on my face, hands, back, pecker, legs...numerous times too.
There was a time when I couldnt tell it was Ivy until it was too late, but it seems to be easy for me to recognize in the spring now.
Figured I'd share some pics for others to hopefully learn something from, as one of my fishing holes is covered with it this year.  :sad3:

You know what I realized as I was creating this topic? THIS EXACT TIME last year I made a topic saying, "I think I found Poison Ivy".
And guess where I was? Same place I was this weekend, yanking up Smallies. :laf:
Not funny actually :innocentwhistle: And now that I know what it is for sure...I see there's a friggin Ivy BUSH right where I approach the rocks for my smallies.

I feel your pain, PI rash can make one's life quite miserable at times. This stuff works for me it's around $10 a bottle but worth it.

I'm immune to poison oak and apparently to poison ivy also, though I haven't been around ivy as much.  I recognize ivy and stay away from it anyway.  I've seen super bad reactions from people sensitive to poison oak, such as an arm so inflamed and deep ulcered that looks like it should be amputated.  It is easy to recognize once a man learns.

FinsnFur

Ohh man as much as that stuff hates me, I'd be scared to test one of the those products :sad3:

if you know you've been it soap and water within 3 5 minutes will remove the oil off the skin, lightly rub so as not to work deeper in the skin

FinsnFur

yep, now that I can positively identify it, I do my best to work around it as I simply cannot give up my Smalley hole :eyebrow:
BUT...I do head to the next spot afterwards which is a boat launch and after a couple quick casts I wash up my arms and legs with a quick rinse JUST to make sure. :eyebrownod:

My mom could look at poison ivy and break out or pretty close.  I could play in it and never got it.  Then there was a really dry summer and I took some bushes out of the back yard of the house we were renting.  In it was some poison ivy that I saw and ignored.  Then it hit BIG time.  Since then I have had it several times and each time had to go get shots to help slow it down.  Not fun stuff.

Yeah they say you get it easier once you've had it.
I got it one time from this famous Smalley hole cause it was raining and windy out, believe it or not. Never touched a plant, and I'm assuming the misty rain and wind carried it to my face, arms and neck. :doh2:

Jim that tecnu stuff acts like invisible glove. Put it on before you go in it and then when you get home take a coldish shower and it washes off. I use it a lot. I dont get poison ivy bad but never heard of you getting it worse after having it once. I know a guy who eats a leaf or two every year. And he never gets it. Sum of these boys up here are old Appalachian hill folk though who remind ya of deliverance tho.

And then there is the guy that eats a toad each morning and the rest of the day looks really good.   :laf:

I never thought of eating it :laf: I should try that.
It'd be like a flu shot.

I hear a story of a guy said that and then he got blisters in his throat... from the poison oak , I just get lil itchy bumps but my cousins boys gets the swollen blisters from it .    if you review the foto of the ginseng there is poison oak beside the ginseng. the three leaf plant  in th right is poison oak , the five is va creeper.

Well with my job, I usually have it for 2 to 3 months a year. So poison oak is the worst for me. I was told that there are over 100 types of poison oak. When I get it it spreads from the rooter to the tooter. Zanfel is the best stuff that I have ever used, but its expensive. Got it in the lungs when it was burning and it gave me a real bad cough, doc gave me steroids for a month.
