I don't know how many of you already do this, but I thought that I would at least post the link.  The only problem for me was that I kept hearing him say 'Taylor' hook and thought that he was really a Taylor representative.  When he got around to actually showing what he was doing I realized that he was saying 'Trailer' hook.   :shock2:   My bad.

 Oops, bad link on my IPad. May work on the desktop but haven't tried that yet...

I've only used trailer hooks once or twice in my whole life so far. I rarely get short strikes as he calls it, where the fish nips at the back of the lure to get it away from them or their bed.

I got a question for ya jim. I have been doing well on a green pumkin jig and was wondering what a gold leaf colarado blade spinnerbait with a bluegill skirt would do?  Have you tried this combo?  I have never seen one but am thinking about making some after seeing your spinnerbait thread you posted the other day

that color combo will work well... I have used the bluegill color/pattern in the past and had good success with it... I used to get mine from a custom maker in Texas, when I remember his name I'll post it for you...

it is with a heavy heart I bring the news that Bill Dee, the owner and CEO of Gamblers S.O.B. lures has passed away a few years back... never met the man in person but he was originally from York, PA...

Bill's dad worked for Borg Warner, he was the guy that inspired the ice machine with the tubular ice cubes... he got transferred to Oklahoma city years back and when Bill left home he headed down to Texas where he began his own life...

Bill was a guy that took pride in his work, and some fine work he did... at one time I had near 100 of his spinner and buzz baits... he was the first one I saw who made the bluegill style/colors... when I moved to NC and divested myself of 99.9% of my freshwater tackle they were sold off to parties unknown... after I got here I wanted a spinner bait for red fish on the flats and Bill was quick to accommodate me with that request...

you can see the quality here, ball bearing swivels, nylon quick releases on the front blades, super sharp hooks and excellent quality skirts...

Bill is definitely going to be missed, a super nice fellow, and the first man to win a Bass Masters tournament with his own lures...

Yah bluegill colors work good and naturally they have their place. Some manufactures even have a color thats titled bluegill.
In real dark stained waters they dont do so well.
As far as the gold Colorado, they work too. I've always felt that gold attracted more Pike though. Gold and red is deadly in fact...for Pike, up here.
I've always tried to stick with silver and I really like the hammered nickle the best. No# 2 or 3
