800 miles
« on: January 08, 2019, 02:50:47 PM »
I had an opportunity to go Mountain lion hunting, free.
 Kinda.
800 miles round trip 6" of snow and a lot of wind.
It was a buddy of my boy that had the dogs , we had 2 4wheelers and a utility trailer.
We leave at 1 am and get there shortly after sunup, hook up with the dog guy and hit the trails.
He went one way we went the other and split up. We had to drive the trails looking for tracks.
hunted till 10:30 PM and called it quits for the night. No tracks.
Up at 4:00 AM and back on the trails. 90 miles on the 4wheelers and about the same for the dogger.
We cut some at 2:00 PM called the dogs. It did not take over an hour for the dogs to get the cat treed.

And Dang
It was a kitten, this years cat and we could not shoot it.
Sure was fun .
The next day we left for home at sunup got home before supper.
Food shower and sleep...

Yep, the young lions retain spots and stripes inside their legs that gradually get fainter but will last up to two years on some, even after they are grown to young adult body size.

I enjoyed the read of your memorable hunt.
