"The largest bear taken this year is the 813-pound male taken with a rifle on the opening day of the firearms season in Smithfield Township, Monroe County, by Victor Vassalluzzo, of Kintnersville."

Most folks do not realize that the greatest number of attacks on people are done by black bears. Also, most barren ground grizzlies top out around five hundred pounds. Many black bear exceed that mark. The Carolina's yearly have black bears taken in excess of six hundred pounds. Brown bears are another story all together. Any 800 pound bear is huge and I for one, would not want to cuddle with one..
