Made in China

In the news lately we've all been hearing about toys made in China and that they contain lead in the paint ! A few weeks ago, As a joke Me and my wife had a talk we our kids about this and explained the dangers of Chinese toys and that the lead in them could make them very sick and some kids have even died, my kids took this very seriously and asked if they had to get rid of the toys that were made in china

I said; Yes I think it would be best to go through all of your toys and sort out the made in China ones. An hour or so went by and the kids came out of the playroom with very sad looks on their faces and said; We have put the made in China toys in a pile and we could throw them away ! But it was not all of them yet. I told my wife let go see what the kids found ? :shck:OMG about 80% of the toys were in a pile ! my son comes to me and says; Dad can I please play with the Playstation just one more time before I through it in the pile ? :shrug:I was dumbfounded. To make a long story short, we only through away the toys that were old baby toys. This whole (joke) was a huge eyeopener for me and my family, since this happened my kids have managed to point out every thing in our home, cars, motorhome, garage, and even the horse stall and chicken coup. :shck: The amount of Chinese made products that surround us every day in everything we do deeply saddens me, what happened to the stuff MADE IN THE USA !! I missed something somewhere !I will surely pay more attention to this from now on and try my best to buy more AMERICAN products. Why is everything Made in China anyway? Do we, the USA make anything ? I am asking everyone to look around their home and correct me if I'm wrong. To make matters worse my one and only hand call that I bought at BassPro was made guess where!!

Ooh that makes me mad (do they even have coyotes in China ?) it went straight in the garbage. I will ONLY purchase calls made by the people in this forum (as long as their not Chinese, sorry no offense to Chinese call makers if any are on this board) and that's a promise. I have already ordered an antler call from BradH and cant wait to get it ! THO I really want one of your calls so please keep making them ! forget it move on, we need you.

I haven't really thought about this in awhile. Reading your post kinda made me look around and realize there isn't much made in the USA stuff no more. Even if it is made in USA the owner of the company is probably from overseas.

securpro you are right in the fact that most everything seems to be made over seas. I had to check all the numbers on my kids toys to see if they were good or bad and luckily according to the website they were fine. When it's possible buy American! Spend it where you earned it!

Last year one out of every four companies that was sold in the U.S.A. was bought by a foreign country. Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, Russia and many others all own a big chunk of us now. As the U.S. dollar continues to fall in value compared to the Euro, yen, etc. it will continue to make it cheaper and cheaper for foreign countries to buy us.
The Chinese are becoming more and more affluent which means they are able to buy a lot of the amenities that we have taken for granted. More and more of them can buy cars, refrigerators, stereos, stylish clothing, and the list goes on. This is one of the reasons gas is going up. China is importing more and more oil. A finite supply with what's becoming an infinite demand. Won't be long it will take a couple hundred bucks to fill our cars!!! We did it to ourselves in a way and in a way we were sold out by the government over the last 15 years or so, probably longer than that.
We lost 800 companies just last year to foreign countries. China bought into a couple of our financial giants. Saudi bought into one of our plastic giants.

I'm not a defeatist by any stretch of the imagination, but it's gonna get rough boys.

I was putting up some screw in tree steps a few weeks ago. While taking a break, I looked at the label on one of them- Made in China -

the dozen of mallard decoys I got were made in china. The majority of camo we wear in made someplace foreign, sure, it may have the realtree patent but it isnt made in the USA

Nelson.... Be cautious with those screw in steps if they are the folding type , I had one break on me about 2 years ago bout 20ft up !!! luckily I was using a Stealth Saddle and was already I position :shck: I don't think chinese steel is as good as US steel.

Thanks for the info. These were not the folding type, but I still don't trust them that much. I use a climbing belt when putting them up and then attach a rope with the prussic knot from Summit above my stand for future climbing. This takes a little extra time when climbing, but is the safest thing I have found.

It's a crying shame that there are people in this country that can sit on their ass and never lift a finger and draw a Government check every month for more than the Chinese can make in a year, I know we all buy stuff because its cheap but we are only hurting ourselves and our fellow American that are willing to work. This is a good post and a reminder to look at the label before buying. cc

I thought about this today and decided I have been around a little longer than some of you. I remember when it was "Made is Japan" that had people fired up. Then there was the short period of "Made in Mexico". Now the country of choice seems to be China. Who knows where it will be next.

I do wish there were more "Made in the USA" products available.
