Temp: COLD    Rain: YES     Sleet: YES   Wind: Slight  Ice: EVERYWHERE  -
Seen A pair coming home from work out in A cut corn field on A place I hunt.  Had the wife drop me off on the way to town to take the kids to daycare & school.  Put the sneak down A wooded drain ditch going though the field and grabbed A tree.  Hammered the THO Bonker for about 20 seconds. . . waited about A minute . . . played for another 20 before they busted out of A heavily wooded pond out in the middle of the field.  By the time they reached the last terrace one was obviously more hungry than the other- like usual.   She didn't start to circle me until about 75 yards away.  The friend was still A no show and I wasn't about to let her get down wind SLEET of me so she met A 45gr hp at 50 yards.

It was funny because it felt like teenage buck fever again.  Just like most yotes  feel like every year.  Deer just don't have the same effect on me anymore.  Heck I even forgot to lip squeak her, just shot her on the lope!  Then I remembered the 2nd one and reached for A call.  Standing up to see if I could see it over the terrace I flipped A Cypress Slough open reed out from under my coat and caught it on something coming out.  The reed flipped out from under the cork and caught me in the nose.  Needless to say I didn't even get A 2nd shot off!!!
Sooo I just sat there in the field putting my reed back in and talking to A dead coyote in the slow misty sleet & rain for A half hour waiting on the wife to get back from town. :roflmao:

Only the 4th stand of the year, but at least I was busted downwind by woods diving circlers (damn'em) twice before this.  Pic doesn't show it too good but she is lacking A little fur.  Big mange spot right in the middle of her back.  So the quest for A nice pelt to tan is still on.

Here's to the quest,   ~KT

Everytime I put a yote in my crosshair I get the buck fever feeling :yoyo: :laf:.

Great job on the yote! Good way to break in your rifle and call :highclap:.

Yote fever !  :laf: I was just laughing at myself last weekend because of that!   My first deer hunt and having deer all around me doesn't raise the pulse rate.  But one coyote runs thru and it's going a mile minute!! :laf:
This is a strange disease we have!!

Yep!  My father always says he ain't buying A new rifle until he can buy an Angus tag!

Jim, you missed the mange part of the story.  :readthis:  Now I know why you brought that turkey pelvis out of the woods. :roflmao: :bowingsmilie:

Not the worst I have seen this year.  Had one run past me on the driveway that was naked from the ribs back about 2 weeks ago.  I hollered out the window  -  Hey buddy you left yer britches back at the den. . . no reply, he must have been running A little late for work too.  Ya, you're right, I looked down to see if I had mine on.  :shck:       The weather will probably beat me to that one.

:wo: Wondering if that is mange or a rub  I have seen a few yotes as well as other critters like coons and beaver that develop a 'bald spot' from where they repeatly rub up against stuff [like a stick/root in their den]. I seem to recall a post a ways back about a yote that had a big rub supposedly from going under the same spot in a fence day in and day out

Is the skin fessered at that bald spot or is it just the hair missing?

Oh....and congrats  :eyebrow:

Eeeeeeeeeeeeezt now  :sneer: I didnt drag that thing outta the woods, Rich did. I just commented on it.

Yeah I did miss the mention of mange, but mannn that fur looks good. I'm wondering if it's a rub, too.

Well she did have crusty crotch critters crawling creepily close by.  :holdon:  Early stages.
I zoomed in on some of the other full size pictures the wife took, but she was standing on the porch with her brand new camera I got her for Christmas.  So  there was no way she was stepping out into the rain with it.  No closer ups and the angles are wrong.  That's why I gave it to her early- needs practice!!!
I won't dispute it may be A rub, or A combo of both,  but the fur looked the same and the skin was A little broken up so  I didn't bother digging deeper.  I guess I could go back after A tissue sample and send it up your way? :rolleye:

Dang blast it Jim, you're right.  When I saw her though the scope I was thinking she was the one.  Then when I was walking up to her I was thinking where is my knife.  Then . . . sorrow.    Like I said- the quest.  Thanks guys   ~KT
