Bills Custom Calls

At 6:15 This Morning I got a few visitors. We were going coyote hunting.Everyone needs atleast 1 call when your going hunting.I was thanked and we went hunting.

Skyler,Bud,and Andrew

No luck on the first stand.Once we were heading back to the truck the boys had to try their calls, well they heard me it's easy  :laf: Bud thanked me again for the calls

Stand 2 The boys wanted to call we didn't even get in place and they cut loose. We are standing in the wide open
Oh well lets see if there are any ground hogs roaming about.NOPE
I was thanked again by Bud for the calls

Back at the house.Lets shoot some target ok no problem

While doing a little practicing with a couple 22 rifles My neice Bud's wife shows up with the other 2 kids  :yoyo:
Britany 7 and Noble 5 Lets all shoot some target

Yep you guessed that box of shells was almost full and now is empty

Then the boys started showing off the calls they got this morning I was thanked again
Of course Brit, and Noble had to have one also no problem I hooked them up  :laf:I was thanked again
Bud checked out my shop and spun a call that I didn't get a pic of
The kids were outside and we could hear calls screaming and I was thanked again
As they were leaving they all said bye and thanks for the calls
I always thought that 1 thanks was enough

Then this evening I met Mr Pike and picked up my new lathe I will post a pic of that as soon as it is set up

Tell Bud I said thanks for the calls.  :doh2: DOH! I mean ......nevermind. :laf:

Hey, why is it that when kids hold a rifle they all lean back from the waist up? Are they trying to lean back to move the scope farther from the target in attempt to focus?  :laf:

Fix em Bill. Otherwise the fist high powered rifle they shoot, their already half way tipped over and the gun aint even went off yet. :laf:

Oh by the way...I wish half the kids up here had half the manners it sounds like that group did  :congrats:

The Kids were happy with the calls
I think Bud was a little sarcastic with his thanks  meaning he was gonna have to listen to all those calls
and they do live in town  :laf: and across the big highway from Hamer
Bud said he was gonna send them out to the football feild at the school they live beside so he wouldn't have to listen to them.He might want to go along there could be coyotes back in them hills

Not sure what the leaning is all about When those kids are shooting I thi it is the guns are a little long for them and they think by leaning back they are getting a little more reach with teir arms

There are coyotes up behind the racetrack Bill. Plus out by the shooting range & ball fields on the other end of town.

by the way, not only kids lean way back when holding a rifle to shoot; some of the best free-style shooters do that also. i'm not a free-stlye competator but i know when shooting off hand if you lean back you can sort of rest a elbow above a hipbone and it helps steady up. well in my younger years i could do that, now i'm not shure i can find my hipbone.

Hard to beat a day taking kids out shooting.    They are never to young to learn.    And they will never forget the gift calls either Bill.    You did good.   :congrats:

The kids are probably trying to gain leverage to help hold up the rifle more solidly.     Even a small rimfire rifle is heavy to young arms that haven't developed a shooting technique yet.   Can't imagine they are seeing much of a sight picture with their eye so far away from the scope either, especially with what looks like a small tube rimfire scope.

Nothing hooks a kid more on shooting or hunting than hitting what they shoot at more often then not.    A makeshift shooting bench for the kids while they are learning the basics would make a huge difference.   No doubt a fun day for all concerned though, especially Dad.
