As I understand, NRA is non-profit, but NRA/ILA is not.  Hunters rights is part of NRA/ILA.

Contributions, gifts or membership dues made or paid to the National Rifle Association of America are not refundable or transferable and are not deductible as charitable contributions for Federal income tax purposes.

From the NRA website.  That includes NRA/ILA. Because they are not tax deductible, they CAN get involved.

Semp, I'm sure you understood what you meant, but I didn't.      Can you restate it in simpler terms?  Thanks.

I am a little late here but how can I help? :doh2:

Al, I love your site!  Lot's of interesting things to view.  Right now, the biggest help you can give us is to post a link on your web site to the F&F petition page.  Encourage everyone you know to sign our petition.  And don't forget to sign it yourself. (Momma and the kids can sign it too)
Many thanks for your offer to help.

And every bit of the thanks goes to you, Jim.  It would have been impossible without your generous offer to help us.  As Hannity so often says, "You're a great American".   :highclap:

Sorry, I just now saw your post.

What I was trying to say is the NRA and NRA/ILA are not tax exempt. Donations to them are not tax deductible.  So they are not barred by law from getting involved in political causes.  Does that help clarify what I said?

Semp

edited to add: The NRA is a non-profit 501 (c) (4) but donations to them are not tax deductible to the donor.  Clear as mud?

Just wondering how well you did today!!

I talked to Tom (NASA) the other night on the phone. Setting him to print the petition out.
He did say he'd report back when he got back in...I'm curious myself.

I just heard that the tree huggers were shot down. A victory for prairie dog shooters. I'm sure nasa or someone will be along to fill in the details shortly.

I just got back into town.  I couldn't get internet service at the Motel 6 I was at.  This is my first post on the results.
It was unanimous.  9-0 defeat.  http://www.gjsentinel.com/news/content/news/stories/2008/05/01/050208_1b_Wildlife_commission.html

:bowingsmilie:  We kicked azzzz!!

The crowd was overflowing.  They opened a divider to an ajoining room for the overflow crowd.  The State was not expecting that large of a turnout.  Traditionally, the anti's have very little opposition at these meetings.

There was between 120-130 people in attendance.  About 8-10 were wearing the ARA stickers.  The rest were there to defeat the Pdog ban.   :highclap:

The "Guardians" had 3 speakers (including their lawyer), who tried their hardest to elicit tears and compassion from a room full of cattle ranchers, sheep ranchers, hunting outfitters and guides, wheat, corn, and alfalfa farmers, trappers, land owners, and a sh!tt load of dedicated (and determined) varmint hunters.  Speaking in opposition to the ban were at least 3 representatives from each of the above groups.

The ARA's were totally unprepared for such a show of force. Every one of their lofty "arguments"  was repudiated with facts and data.  Their contention that the "majority" of  citizens of CO support the PD ban was blown out of the water when we presented 3 different stacks of signed petitions, demanding defeat of the ban, amounting to almost 8,000 signatures!   They apparently didn't think they needed evidence of their "support", as they had no signatures to present.   They were flat on their back!

Three TV station camera crews were there to "capture the drama".  Two newspaper reporters were there as well.  There were GJ Police posted at every door, and there were at least 10-12 uniformed (and armed) CDOW wardens and officers monitoring the crowd.  I don't know what, or who, prompted them to supervise the event with such a display of firepower.   Everyone was on their best behavior.  The City and CDOW LEO's were visibly supportive of the effort to defeat the ban.  Very possibly a few PD shooters behind those badges!   :eyebrownod:

This is an excellent example of what we can do! There was no "leader" or "organizer" responsible for the overall effort.   The stockmen organized themselves, as did the farmers, hunters, and outfitters.  Can you imagine the impact we could have as a unified front?  This was a "team" effort, in every sense of the word.

I'm grateful for the support and cooperation in fighting this battle.  And it is just 1 battle in the war against any and all who would try to destroy our sport and way of life.

HaMeR

Way to go NASA!!!! Thank You for representing me from over here in Ohio. I was overly pleased to sign that petition & I will do it again in the future. And as with anything else,, numbers do matter!!  :congrats: :congrats:

And not to forget this either.  :readthis: I think all the weaponry walking around inside of there woulda been one helluva site to behold!!   I love firepower!!!  :yoyo:
