I got to do a little bit of calling and try out my new deer antler call that I made last week and where else better to call than Oklahoma to start out. I went to my Father-in-laws on Friday evening. Started out with a set of high pitch distress. Called for about 10 seconds, then waited about 1 min. called again waited ... called for about 15 seconds. then waited about 2 minutes and here comes a pup popping his head out of some cedars. I lip squeaked at him and here he came a bouncing right to me. I stopped him at about 30 yds, and put him down with my .223. He is the smallest coyote that I have ever shot.
The next day, and back in Texas, I decided to try out my new Whirling woodpecker decoy.. All I have to say about that is IT FREAKING WORKS!!! Okay I'm not trying to sound like a commercial or anything but it just works! I set it up on a small thorn bush and backed up about 30 yds away from it. Hit some high pitched bird distresses with my call and waited. after the first set. BIG male comes walking out and starring at the decoy the whole time. So I let me keep on walking. He walked straight to it, sat down, looked at it and started slapping at it and playing with it, then sat back looked at it, played with it some more, before I put him down. I had my camera in the truck but didnt' bring it for some reason. If I had that on film that would have been great to watch. Truly a awesome experience. That was the first time that I had used it, and I think after that. It might just be my go-to decoy.

NNNnnnnice looking cat!. Big ole bugger too.

Yeah the whirling woodpecker is a nice decoy. Not very durable, but they have proven themselves time and time again.
There's pics posted of a double I called in last year with the whirling pecker.

That is a very big cat and a very little coyote. He must have been the runt of the litter. Congrats on two successful hunts.

Nice Kitty! :eyebrownod:  I like the woodpecker decoy as well. Only draw back is battery life, in cold weather. Coyotes and cats love the thing.

I had a coyote do that same thing last year. Walked around and around the bush trying to find away to get to the bird...lol

Thanks guys, That was the biggest bobcat that I 've got so far.  I usually tan them myself but I don't have time anymore since I started making all these calls, that takes up all of my spare time..So this one is going to be Full body mount.  They said that I'll get it back in about 5 months.  Cant' wait.

As for the coyote.. That was the smallest that I have ever shot..  didn't get to do much with him..lol..
