We'll be upgrading our server from a Pentium 4 to a new 8 core Xeon system during the next 72 hours.

This will give us more room and a boost in speed.
I'm not predicting any down time, but wanted to give a heads up so all know what was taking place in case you see smoke somewhere :laf:

As a reminder if you are a client of Fins and Fur Hosting, your site will be placed on the new server also.

Head count!!  :laf:  is everyone accounted for?
So far I'm not seeing anything that may be amuck from the migration. You should notice a very significant change in speed though. The site should respond much quicker for you.

If anyone see's anything that appears to be out of place, missing or broken, gimme a hoot.
If your on Fins and Fur Web Hosting you should look your sites over to make sure everything is intact. About the only thing I can predict happening is some older style scripts not liking the new server, but there shouldn't be many of those if any at all.

(edit) I'm noticing the SHOUT box is a little jigged. I'll play with that tonight when I get home from work :sneer:

Mine looks fine

Most likely what is happening is the site is still propagating through the network for some of you, based on your locations. It's kind of like buying a new domain name. You can't go purchase www.LookAtMe.com and then type it in and expect to see a place holder come up. It takes time for the new domain name to work it's way across the country via routers and networks, etc.

The best way to describe that is.... If you go buy a can of carb cleaner and pour it into your gas tank, the carburetor isn't instantly cleaned. It takes a while for it to make it's way through the lines so that it can work.

Now your saying to yourself, "yeah but this domain has been up for a while why's it creeping through the veins of the web NOW?"
Well.....the site has been up for a while yes, but with the new server we got a new IP address. Which means that every time you click to come here, the web expects us to be at that IP address, and so does your computer, thanks to it's dns cache.

Those of you seeing no colors, or funky colors, are most likely in the middle of the propagation duration. Meaning your seeing part of us from the old IP address and part of us from the new one. It's a waiting game.  Deleting your cookies and cache will help a little.

But keep the reports coming, we can monitor the propagation by area if you all keep us posted as to what your seeing. If your neighbor sees everything normal on the site, then you should to.
