I was at one of my suppliers store today, and my cellphone rung.  I looked at the area code and had a sense of something being wrong at the home of the caller, J.D. "Canine".  As it turns out, the news was about as bad as it gets, as J.D. reported that his yellow blackmouth cur pup, "Buck", got out of his kennel last evening and got killed on the road.  Needless to say, J.D. and his son are heartbroken, and I can assure you that old Possumal is too.  Buck was already working well, and destined to be a good coyote decoy dog, and they bond to you in such a special way that it really tears me up to think of their loss.  I will contact Mr. Ladner in Mississippi tonight to see if he possibly might have a male pup to fill the enormous void in J.D. & Son's heart.

Al, Thanks for postin this for me as I have been struggling to. I did finally get ahold of Brent today and filled him in on the mishap. The little shit had alot goin for him and was ready to go to the field, unfortunately I'll be goin solo and every coyote I kill this year will be for "Buck".

Let me know what ya find out from Mr. Ladner, thanks Al.

Oh man J.D. I really hate to hear about this. I know Buck was going to be a great hunting partner. Sure, you can get another pup but it's too late in the year to get one ready to hunt this season.
My Vetrinarian called here just today and said she had a yellow Mt. Cur similar to ours and asked if I wanted it for free, but I don't need another one. I don't know how old it was.

Sorry to hear about loosing your hunting dog JD. A good dog is truly a gift. They become one of your children. Hope you can find a replacement soon.

Not good...it dont take long for them to become art of the family. I hope Zach wasn't there when it happened.

Thanks guy's for the concern. Luckily Jim, Zander wasn't there, we did have a doggy funeral though.

It truly sucks cause he had such grit and was well disciplined.

Ed, Al got ahold of LH Ladner and he has some pups, I would be interested in finding out some info on the pup your vet is talking of too. I tried calling you today but it went straight to your voicemail, I'll try and catch ya tomorrow sometime.

Sorry to hear that, J.D. I know how you feel.
We lost Shiloh and Phoebe this past year. They were members of the family.

Went out this afternoon and made a stand and called this female in. She responded to howls and pup distress, coaxed her to within 75 yards with lip kisses. First stand of the year and first for "Buck".

Rich,
Sorry to hear about your dogs, They sure were a fun bunch. What did you end up doing with Mattie?

Broke my heart as well, After picking him up and keeping him till JD could get down and pick him up, hell even gave him his name it sure was hard to take. The kids and wife had got kinda use to him as well. And were also heart broke to hear the news.

Funny how things like this hurt. Buck would of made a fine coyote dog! He had allot of grit and the smarts to go with it. It was a sad thing to hear!

Rich,

Sorry to hear about the dogs, after spending some time with them over the years it makes me sad to hear this as well. I know for fact how you cared for them dogs, im sure it was a great loss to your family as well!

J.D.: I can't think of a better way to handle such a loss.  Kill those rascals for Buck.  I have been getting nothing but good reports from every one of the pups in that litter.
