We have a two bedroom cottage Wednesday thru Saturday. We have room for one more guy (on a pull out couch). Anybody interested post here and/or PM me.

I reserved one of the 5 cottages.  The lady I spoke with said it has a kitchenette, two bedrooms with two beds in each and seperate shower and bathroom in each bedroom.  Sounds real nice.  She didn't say anything about a pull out couch??  She also said it is about an hour from the rooms to the Redbird WMA??

I'm getting excited again!!  Hope everyone can make it!!

I was told it was 20 miles. No worse than driving from Dover to Wranglers camp ground!

It's only about 20 miles to where you can start hunting. The whole area used to be known as Redbird. But it's now divided up into several WMAs. The actual part of it called Redbird now is the farthest north part of it. There is also Graham WMA, Ataya WMA, a couple other WMAs that I can't think of the names at this moment, and Daniel Boone National forest. There are a few small parcels of private property within the WMA boundaries but they are well marked.
All that is needed to hunt is a small game liscense. No other permits are required.

Frogman

Are we able to coyote hunt in the Daniel Boone NF??  Can we hog hunt??

Jim & Al

Yes, you can hunt in the Daniel Boone forest, and yes, hogs are in all year. But I've never seen a hog over there.
And Jim, Yes, handguns are OK too.

weedwalker

It's a big place with trails going everywhere. If you have a GPS you might want to use it. Cell phones work on top of the hills but not in the valleys.

Frogman

Are there any coyotes there???

Jim

Not as many as there used to be. I killed a few of them. The cat and yote in my avatar are from there.

There's a pretty good population of coyotes in there. Not as many as in the western part of the state though.

Frogman

Is there a DNR headquarters nearby that might have some maps of the areas?

Here's a link to the DNR's map sight for Begley WMA. It's in the middle of the area and you can see most of the other areas on it.
