I've been trying to locate some birds every morning before work so when Saturday rolls around I'll have a game plan.  Problem is I'm not hearing anything  :madd:  Anybody else having this problem?

I hope HaMeR hasnt came down here and run them all over  :roflmao:

They been gobbling around 5:45 - 6:10 on the roost...Ya gotta get set on em quick and get em to hear ya or they just shut up after that...I have had 4 of them so far at about 60 yds strutting and gobbling some but the still aint as HOT as last year.
I am thinking about just giving up this year.......

BUT I WONT! :nono:       :laf:

:roflmao:  You scared me for a minute till I scrolled on down.

Everybody has been telling me the same thing.  I have been going out at about 5:20 - 7:00 then going to work at 7:30.  I only got Saturdays to  hunt so Id like to have one tied up come 5:00am Saturday Morning.

They were hot the first few days of the season, night time temps were in the upper 50's to lower 60's.
This front came through Tuesday night and the temps have been in the upper 30's at night.
That pretty much shut em right down up here at the moment.

Bills Custom Calls

I seen one cross the road today,so ya might want to keep that in mind for locating birds  :nono:

We are restricted to shotguns only in Kentucky.  I never understood why we can't use rifles now that the turkey population has established itself.  A safety issue maybe?

We used to have to quit at 1 pm like WVA but now we can hunt all day if ya want.

They must all be up here. Geez, I'm seeing flocks of em almost every morning waddling around strutting their stuff.

You can't kill 'em from the recliner!!

So am I. I figure between my good rain gear & popup blind I should stay dry enough to hang out til noon. I just need to keep my pop tarts dry & unmangled now!!  :yoyo:

Me four.

Its raining right now and supposed to rain all day tomorrow.  I've got a nice dry blind to sit in though.

Hidehunter

I dont have a nice dry blind and my rain gear is to heavy for the warm weather so I'll be humped up against a tree dripping wet, Pop-tarts and all.

But I love it

I haven't seen (other then a few hens) or heard anything while
I've been huntin. I drove past the timber while I was workin on Wed.
and about 75 yds off the road on the edge of the timber was a few hens
two jakes and a beautiful long beard.  :doh2: :nono:

I did see a nice Jake about 11AM after the sky turned blue. He was uninterested in my ineffective calling tho so I just sat there & had a dry pop tart.

:laf: :laf:  I tell ya those things are the best for all day hunts. I pack a box with me during deer season & never have to leave the woods til dark.   I think I had 3 or 4 boxes down at RedBird this year too.   :eyebrownod:
