I've been shooting 20-30 arrows every day, that's all my weak a$$ can take.    I did get my first Robin Hood the other day. I've busted nocks and tore vanes, but I actually drove one inside the other. It was cool but I lost 2 arrows. Anyone else tuning up?

Just broke my bow out, I know...I know... I should have been practicing all summer/year long.  I placed 3 arrows consistantly in a 1 inch group, vanes touching at 20.  If I keep my shots 20 and under all will be well.  If I can keep myself out of the duck blind a few nights and trade it up for a tree-stand
Cant practice no longer than 20 in my back yard and I've always been the most comfortable 20 n under for the most part.

I start shooting compound around Labor Day.  This way I'm ready about the time boredom sets in.  :laf:

The crossbow usually takes 2 shots off the shooting table with sandbags & 2 more from a chair.

I've been shooting my bow most of the summer at the local 3-d ranges but I need to get out and shoot my smoke pole for the early season.

I pretty much shoot a bow year round...so I guess I'll say I'm a little past ready.

Ky's bow deer / turkey season opened Sept 5.... runs to mid January. Went bowhunting Friday saw several does & younguns but nothing to get me fired up while on the stand. Did check my game camera and have some prospects runnin around. Just hard for me to get real fired up on deer hunting with the temps in the mid to upper 80's.

Honestly could'nt come a frost quick enough for me..... ticks & chiggers been terrible this summer.

Good luck hunting to all!!!

With that said, I'm gonna be expecting to see your entry in the Bow Contest, JD :eyebrownod:

LOL....  I dont want to clutter the thread with pics.... but....

This one eluded me all of the 2008 season. However... he's alive, healthy..and still runnin around my farm. I'm no trophy hunter by any means but I'd love to draw down on him.

Would he do for the contest??? :eyebrownod:

Got to love these Ky deer.

Yer making me want to check out what I read in theguide JD , about Ballard co wildlife refuge.  Last time I had a buck like that working my place the neighbor shot him   :sad2:  Jimmie

Jimmie.... I hunted my butt off after this deer last fall. I passed on a bunch of deer I would'nt have any other time...just because there was always that chance he might show. Had pics of him off & on all the way through January....every one of them  at night. Pretty sure I laid eyes on him in April... big hoss of a body and of course no horns.. but knobs were already formed and they looked huge.

All it takes is just a little pressure and he becomes a nocturnal SOB. I've pretty much come to terms this season .... I'm not exactly going to get that posessed over this deer like I did last season. He's sown some good seed and it might be hard to pass on some of the others.

Below is a pic off my camera check last Friday... been 3 weeks since I checked....had 1212 pics. Probably over a 1000 was of deer...the other 200 was turkey, squirrels & coons. This is one of about 12 different bucks..... its a young buck but I do like his looks....split browtines and symetrical 12 points. He might be in trouble if him or a few others were to show up. Our farm is in north Christian... about 30 minutes from Hopkinsville in the hill country...which is an understatement.

As far as Ballard.... they still have some hosscat bucks there but it takes me from Murray about the same amount of time it takes to get to the farm. If I lived closer to the refuge... I'd be hitting it.

Heres a few not so good pics ...but notice the bucks just barely in range of the flash of the camera.

Anywhere near Grapevine Road by chance?   I owned a farm for about 16 years next to the old strip mine. Sold it a couple of years ago but my brother in law still has his.  I know the Nortonville/Mannington area pretty well.   The meth cookers and the atv trespassers were a whole lot worse than the ticks and chiggers.

Semp.... our place is near Kirkmansville off Greenville Rd..... basically at the Christian & Todd county line. Have had a few issues with tresspassers but thats about it...luckily no dopeheads. We own 300 acres ...primarily timber with less than 10 acres of open ground. At present were surrounded by Georgia boys that have bought up every farm around with the exception of our south side... and its owned by a Tennessee Titan player. Honestly its a good situation because their all hunting oriented with some serious QDM ongoing. The quality has increased drastically since these properties were basically hunting leases in the past and was hunted in a "if its brown...its going down" manner.

Lots of yotes & other critters too.
