This happened about 30 miles out in the Pacific on our way to Tanner Banks. We ran into a 300' Scripps Institute ship. Lucky for us it was flat as glass that night. We had to back our way all the way to Avalon and the next day the ship backed all the way to the mainland. It was a scary experience for everyone on board. We were worried about our fishing equipment and sharks. Bad feeling.

Wow, it's tough to believe the thing even floated enough to travel backwards for any amount of time.
