Presented to you, my forum friends is a Howler and Distress call, with my 1st original tonebaord.

About me:
My Name is Bryan Speed, I am 53 yrs old, resiiding in Van Alstyne, Tx. Near Sherman, Tx. and the Red River.
I have been making Predator calls since 2005, (with a few years off), but have always enjoyed making a call and hearing about it's use in the field.
My background is not as exciting and full of hunts, as many others...
As a youngster, I enjoyed shooting .22's at Boy Scout camp. But it was not until I was a teenager in West Kentucky, that I experienced hunting.
Mostly I just searched the woods for Squirell and Rabbits. I bought my onw firearms. A Win Model 70 .243 and several Shotguns.
Then some years passed, I no longer had any firearms, and had recently Married.
For my first Christmas with my new Wife ( we are still married) She bought me a Savage .22Mag. (still have it).
I got a green colored predator call.
Because the Men at work were Coon Hunters, and told me that Foxes were paying $25 or more. And since Winter meant temporary layoff, I went out in the Snow and Ice, to become a "real hunter". hehe
Sat in a Brush pile, and made all kinds of noises.
Well, I saw nothing. So I got up and started walking around the field, and that's when I saw the scrawny Red Fox that had come to the call. NICE!
And that was it...many attempts later, never saw or called in ( to my knowledge) another Fox.
Many years passed yet again, lived in several places - Kansas, Mass./New Hampshire, and then settled here in Tx. in the early 80's
During the 80's to 1998, my Son and I raced dirtbikes with a local club. In 1988, I won my Class State Championship :)
Sometime around 2003 or so, I discovered the Public Lands here, and went out after small game.
Soon, though I was trying to call Coyotes with a JS Preymaster.
It took almost a Year.... sometime in that year, I had made my first couple of calls. Open reed, wooden toneboard.
But it was with that call, that I called in my first couple of coyotes. Not good enough to take a shot,, but it was a start :)
Since then, I feel like I have learned a fair amount about calling, and especially about _spotting_ the Coyote that has come in! I am a Wind-on-my-back caller :)
I am always learning! This Season and next Spring, I hope to get my 1st Turkey. And yes, I hope to have made the call that brings ol Tom in.
My website has info on my calls, pics of calls made in the past, and pics of Coyotes taken. Do visit sometime :)
And if you are ever in my area, do drop in!! Who knows we may have to go out and do some calling!
Take Care, everyone
Bryan Speed aka timbertoes

and congrats Jim
now, just to get frogman to show up!! anyone know where he is? no reply yet to pm or email!
Yeah he won something one other time if I remember right, and he didnt even find out about it until close to the same time the first ever Dodge Ram was released publicly.
He'll be around. I'm thinking sometime between now, and when health care is free for all American citizens.
:roflmao:
Wow!! I won something??
I have been deer hunting. Our gun season opened on Monday. I'm having the same kind of success I usually have when coyote hunting. Nothing so far??
I just got on line and saw I had a PM from timbertoes telling me I had won his call. Awesome!
Timbertoes,
That's a beautifull looking howler. I expect it will be even nicer than it looks in the photo. I'm looking forward to seeing it, "in the wood".
HaMeR,
I don't know if it would be an insult to timbertoes to give away such a nice call at LBL?? He might think I didn't like it or something? I have a couple of other things I'm thinking about bringing to LBL. We'll see???
Jim
You are welcome, to use the call in any way you see fit !
I already have one LBL donation call made, and need to make more.
Of course, if only CCP would send me the mailing address.... I can at least get the one call to him.... (HINT HINT)
I might even make Turkey call for the LBL guys. lords know they wll be up to thier eyeballs in coyote calls. :eyebrownod:
Bryan,
Got the call on Saturday. Its beautiful!! I especially like the little checker insert between the dark and light wood!! How did you get all them little pieces in there??? You call makers never cease to amaze me with your skills. It toots nice too! A lot of these guys make fun of my howling?? But I'm trying to improve and I think this call will help me do that. Sure sounds good to me!!
Thanks again for a really nice call.
Jim
Great to hear!
That band is a wooden Inlay...I buy them like that :)
Ahhh, man, you should have said that you painstakingly inserted each small piece of wood in there one at a time!!
Jim
That is Such a Pretty Call and what great work on your Tone Board! I bet it sounds amazing! Nothing like a howler/distress combo! Great Job!
