Title: Server Issues
Post by: FinsnFur on October 26, 2008, 07:36:15 PM
Our servers been having issues the last couple days. Down for two or three minutes here and there since Tues 21st.

Just wanted everyone to know I apologize for the inconvenience, it's not going unnoticed and were looking into the cause.

I think folks in the southern region are having trouble getting the site up now.

From what I've been hearing, thats not the only thing they have trouble getting up. :laf:

Ok, not funny. I'm still looking into this, and have called in some dogs to assist.

Mr. Jim, I think Bop has Reggie's phone number if you need it.

About a week ago I started noticing the board seemed a lot slower to load than normal, I figured it was on my end. Cable and Bell South DSL are not available in my immediate area (too far out in the sticks). I have tried both Sprint and Verizon wireless units but I'm on the fringe of their towers, so those two are not viable options. I did contact Ma Bell today, it turns out that there is a problem with my phone line. The repairman will be out tomorrow (or sometime in the next two months)  to check the line... Dial up sucks !  :puke:

It could be folks on dial up having issues now. It seems to be snapping right along here.

The server actually started acting goofing on the 21st. Down for a minute or two here and there. And then last night for like 20 plus minutes.
I've got LiquidWeb looking into things now.

Yeah, Semp thought we might have voted him off the board. I told him we had a secret ballot vote. 40 members voted, and it came out 63-2 to get rid of him. :eyebrownod:

Jim,

I was still unable to get on FnF at the house up till noon today.  :argh: I am on at work writing this, so I don't know if I'm still down at the house or not. I talked to Semp about an hour ago and he is still not able to get on. We have different providers and are in different parts of the state. Maybe its a Kentucky thing?  Send help!

I'm wondering if the server had to be restarted, which would start propagation all over.
I've sent an e-mail out to some higher ups, now awaiting a response.

Hey I'm back on the site again.  Now don't go shaking your heads and muttering "Gawd I THOUGHT he was gone!" to yourselves.

I tried everything I know to fix the problem. I even installed a new version of Norton thinking that old slow version was gumming it up somehow.
That didn't help any with the site but my computer starts up a LOT faster now.   :eyebrownod:

I got the idea to change my IP address and BINGO I am now back in business again.

So if anyone else still can't connect, they should change their IP address and see if that fixes the site problem.  It worked for me.   :yahoo:

I still couldn't get on at home as of 6:45 this morning. I updated Norton's, turned off the firewalls, restarted the computer, but nothing has worked so far.  :mad3: :mad3: I'm back at work now and have no problems here. How do I change my IP address? I think I'll give that a try.
