I seriously thought this was a smallmouth bass when I hooked into it. The fight was unreal it would not give in. And this was my reward. [emoji1787]

Dang!  That thing is built like a cement block! Is that a freshwater drum?

I think somebody did say they're called freshwater drum. We always called them sheep head that's the only thing I know them as.
The fight is unlike anything up here. But they're good for nothing. Just a big rough fish

Redfish are closely related.
You can eat them or If your going to kill it there is two "Stones" in its head that are Mother of Pearl.

There are some guys around here that eat them. Say they taste like chicken...no really, same texture and everything.

My neighbor, a retired conservation officer eats gar  :confused: says they taste like lobster. Ima stickin' with crappie myself.

I would suggest bait.  Use it for cats and when they come in nail them.

My grampa used to cut the stones out when we were kids...but he never fed the fish to us.  I have tried it before. To me it taste like river mud.
