Ohio-- April 24th thru May 23rd for the South zone. May 1st thru May 30th for the North zone. Youth is April 17th & 18th.

I just need my turkey tags and I'm all set. I'm thinking about hunting a different WMA this year. This one is considerably larger and has more pressure from what I've heard over the years around here. Could be a whole new challenge.  :yoyo:

Anybody else make their Spring plans yet?  :eyebrow:

Im hittin VT and NH this year, cant wait!

April 4- May 17 here in Tennessee I think. Never turkey hunted in my life, and so far no mentor. So I’ll try to “wing” it.  :laf:

TomTalker sent me a box call from Canada, and Steve Steffy of North Bay Game Calls hooked me up with a couple of nice turkey calls too. (I need to learn how to post pics again.)

Supposedly I’m butted up against a 5000-7000 acre state hunting area.

When I first started turkey hunting they told me to set a box of stove top stuffing out in front of me about 20 yards, hope that helps you get going.  :yoyo: :innocentwhistle: What are you shooting for a turkey cannon?

Todd Rahm

I have a Mossberg 835 and a Berretta A300 Outlander (I think? Won it but never shot it yet.)

nastygunz

My main turkey gun for about 25 years has been a Mossberg 835 with a Knoxx Specops stock and Primos Jellyhead Maximum choke,  many a bird she has sent to that great roost in the sky.

That's how much stuff piles up in the back of your rig after a long season of chasing turkeys.

I'm kinda lucky, I've killed more on the hill above my house than anywhere else.

Do turkeys ever cause any damage?
I say what I think not think what I say.

Only when you take a bite and hit a bone.

The back of your rig looks plum tidy compared to the back of my Zuki this time of year.    Some of the stuff has been in there since deer season, and all though a winter of predator calling.  Some stuff I use for snow never gets back in the right bag or tub, ditto for mud or dry ground gear and camo, multiple firearms and accoutrements for each, tools, tire chains, flashlights, tarps, gear for an unplanned overnight, extra clothes....  I try to not let debris from old lunches and gas station coffee cups accumulate, but dread the real spring clean out.  It always yields finds like, "So that's where that extra pair of long johns has been!"

nastygunz

I did a spring clean out of the back cargo area once and found one of my brothers living in there   :hahaha:

I got drawn for the early quota hunt at LBL.  So I'll get a jump on the regular spring season that starts on April 17 in Kentucky.

Good luck to everyone.

Glad to see a bunch of you are hitting the Spring woods!! I'm torn once again between the 12 & the 20ga. If I'm in the thicker area I'll use the 12ga I guess. I've decided I'll go to my regular haunts & if I get lucky I'm going to a whole new WMA just a tad further down the road.

Also here in a few years I hope to begin my quest for the Grand Slam. Anybody else ever want to try that?

I'm hunting almost 5,000 acres now. I'm going to explore the 18,000 acre WMA some. I've coyote called it a little so I know about 3 acres of it already. LOL

They just made the 410 legal in New Hampshire so I'm seriously thinking about giving it a whirl with that

HaMeR

That's cool! Dad's been using the 410 since he turned 85. He can't handle the recoil of even a 20ga anymore. Hell at 91 I'm so proud of him for still wanting to even go out!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

Go Dad!   If I ever made it to 91 it would be a miracle never mind still hunting.  God bless him.

Thank You nasty. We are lucky!
