Title: Bald Eagle
Post by: HaMeR on August 10, 2009, 08:39:34 PM
We don't see them around here very often so we got some pice of this one. We were about 350yds out with Diane's Sony CybrShot on 15x.

I feel much better since it was a still picture and not a video.  I was afraid that Diane was running the camera and you shot the Eagle.

:laf:  Actually it flew off to our right but Diane couldn't get to video mode quick enough & it got behind the trees. That woulda been cool.  :yoyo:

BTW-- 350yds is point & click for the 204.   Not that I woulda!!  :nofgr:  But point & click nonetheless.

You should come up here watch them set on the islands of the Miss and wait for bait fish to swim in too close. Normally the boat doesnt even spook them if you dont get REAL close.

The picture turned out good considering the distance, they are an awesome looking bird. :yoyo:

Just in the past couple years the population has grown rapidly here in PA.  There's not a time now I dont go to the river without seeing one.

They are very cool looking birds.  I know the farmers & ranchers out west don't care a whole lot for any of the big Eagles but back here we just don't see them as often. We're gonna try for some closer pics on this bird & the Ospreys we found the day before. They are huge birds as well. These were 400yds & maybe a little more.

Diane tried to get this one with it's wings spread as it landed.

The big birds all look mighty impressive.  Wile fishing at the Libby dam in Montana there were more ospreys gathered up than I have ever seen in one place but it was a Bald eagle that took a fish right in front of me and the boys.  That was just awesome.

That would be cool to see Barry. I've seen Red Tail Hawks swoop down for a snack before. I watched one fly across the gas line I was deer hunting on & juuuuuuust missed a fox squirrel. Scared the Hickory nuts right outta it's backside too!!!  :roflmao:
