Well...... kinda lol

Boy I hate catching these things. They're so powerful and wickedly dangerous.

Hawks Feather

That is one BIG fish.  How big does those top out at?  Looks like it would be a great way to have a fish propelled kayak - just hook and go.

Looks COLD.  Did you eat that thing?
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

What the heck is it?  Looks like something outta a B- movie.
I say what I think not think what I say.

Yeah it's a gar. They say they get up to 6 ft long and 300 lb on the Mississippi river. This is probably the biggest one I've seen. I wouldn't care if I never seen another one. I hate catching them. They're so powerful they're almost impossible to hold on to. Everything on them is sharp including their Gill plates.
And yes it was very cold. I think spring skipped Wisconsin we had temps in the 40s again yesterday.
I've never eaten one but I'd be willing to try it. I've heard people say they're difficult to clean but taste good.

Hear tell that they are real good when smoked.

Nice!!! In Indiana they had us throw everyone we caught in the bank. 😁

I have personally brought in a 3 footer out of the Patoka river when I lived in Gibson county and I ha e heard stories of even bigger the closer the Patoka gets to the white river.

I know of some river folk that ate them but didn't really care for them. They said they were really really bony and the reproductive parts were poisonous.

I know given proper tackle I like catching gar but only if I'm on the bank with heavy tackle
Don't bring shame to our sport.

He died for dipshits too.
