Since the blackbirds are getting together up north I thought ya'll might go out and shoot a few to cook!
12 blackbirds 2 cans bisquits
1 quart water 1 stick butter
1 teaspoon salt 3 teaspoons onions, minced
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Clean birds well and place in a deep pan. Cover with water and cook until tender.Salt to taste.Make a rich baking powder pastry or roll two cans biscuits thin. Line sides and bottom of pan. cut slashes across bottom. Place birds in pan with butter and minced onions. Add broth and cover top with thin pastry. Punch holes in top to allow juices to escape. Brush top with butter and bake at 350 degrees to a golden brown. serve from baking dish.
That sounds really good. Especially since I'm hungry at the moment.
But......I'm thinking we have different black birds here, because I don't know that I'd eat one of these
Redwing blackbirds-I bet you have them :wo:
Ohhhhhh yeah, we got them. I think they are protected up here...not real sure.
Mr. Bob they dont group up here like they do in Alabama. Shoot one time in Alabama and youll kill 40
